Funeral and specialist.

I’ve been down in Melbourne since last Friday as my aunt died. I decided I would go for a few days and catch up with friends before the funeral on Monday.
While it was sad she died, and she was the last of my mum’s family, being in poor health for over 2 years must have been terrible for her.
The service was conducted by a celebrant who did an excellent job. The photo slide show that was running during the service was really great. My mum and gran appeared in some of them. I asked for a copy of the cd as I wanted to have copies of the photos too.
My niece took a nice photo of me with my 2 brothers. I can’t remember the last time I had one taken with them. Ian is the one wearing a tie and Drew is the other. Ian suffers from Alzheimers and Drew has fought cancer about 5 times.
drew, me and ian.
I had to drive my brother Ian to the funeral, as his wife had a specialist appointment and couldn’t come, and Ian is no longer allowed to drive. He wasn’t as vague as I thought he would be, but it’s nearly impossible to have any sort of conversation with him, as he usually just listens to what everyone else is saying. Dorothy says it’s like having another child in the house. But she seems to be coping ok.
After getting back from Melbourne, husband had an appointment with the heart guy. It seems the fall he had in Melbourne was really a blessing in disguise, as they found during the tests he has high cholesterol, and his arteries are probably 50% blocked. After explaining how in 3-5 years he would have a stroke or heart attack, husband at last agreed to go on the meds. His local GP has wanted him to go on them for a while but he refused as the side effects worried him. But the specialist scared him with the talk of strokes and that worried him more!
I brought Evan back with me as a surprise for husband for Father’s Day. I should have had my camera ready as he was delighted to see Evan walk in the door. It’s been nice having him home for a few days, but he went back to Melbourne on this morning’s early train.
Melissa just messaged me to says it is 28C in Sydney. Cold here where I am and I look forward to summer.
OK, off to read some of my favs.

Bye…..

You look very slim on that photo! I am on statins for high cholesterol and have no side-effects at all.

You look FABULOUS!!! Glad that Ian is not combative. Alzheimer’s is a cruel disease, but so is cancer, I suppose. Good for husband. Better side effects than stroke. RYN: Thanks. I’m becoming discouraged and wondering if it’ll just die in limbo like the first one.

My brother is the same way as Ian. He had a massive stroke several years ago and now has Alzheimer’s. I’m on statins also. Haven’t had any side effects and it lowered my cholesterol very quickly.

My Hubby is on Krestor. He had a heart attack in the late 80s. So far I’m just on thyroid meds. It is a really good picture.

I am sorry about your aunt, but poor health is not a fun place to be in our lives. RYN~~ Thank you very much. I appreciate it.

RYN: Isn’t it funny how memories come flooding back, all at the mention of a toy? 🙂
