Back home.

We arrived home 5th June from our trip to Alaska, Canada and South Africa.
The trip was marred though by the death of my son’s girlfriend in a tornado in Oklahoma when she was visiting her mum. We got the news when we landed in Johannesburg. My son flew to the US for the funeral and asked us to continue with the trip, which we did. But it was sadness and worry for us all, wondering how he was coping in the US on his own.
He was heartbroken and devastated when he flew out. But when he arrived all of his girlfriend’s college friends helped him so he wasn’t alone.
We’ve spent the last week in Melbourne with him and our daughter, helping him in his grief.
Tomorrow though, Melissa has to return to Sydney and husband and I are already home and back at work. I just hope he copes ok in Melbourne. I asked him to come home for a bit but he said no. He has lots of friends in Melbourne to help him recover.
I’ll post some photos from our trip when I am feeling up to it.
