A long weekend and floods.
Well the rains has stopped but the water is slowly making it’s way down stream to cut off some NSW and Victorian towns. I don’t know how people cope with having their homes flooded. It’s a terrible tragedy in both states. And I think Queensland are still flooded in places too.
Sydney was awash yesterday and I’ll put a link to some of the photos that are online.
Also some great ones of Wagga Wagga which is 2 hours drive north of me. The spiders are having to flee to higher ground and are building magnificent webs. I have a link to that also. Given my dread of spiders, I would have to leave town if I lived in Wagga. Apparently they are everywhere.
Melissa had her 30th birthday celebration in Perth, Western Australia. Evan and Luka went too and they met up with some friends they had made travelling in Europe.
I had given her money to put towards her new snowboard, as did Evan, and knowing she would have no actual present, I wrote her a poem for her birthday, which could be sung to her favourite karaoke song, Summer Nights from Grease. She’s just called me to say she loved it and had enjoyed singing it to her flatmates.
It was hard work as I had to keep listening to the song, then write a bit of verse. Took me about 3 days! But she appreciated it.
My mum used to write silly verses when we were all still living at home, and I find it enjoyable doing the same thing myself.
We have 6 nieces and nephews with their partners and their children coming to town for the long weekend as Monday is a public holiday in Victoria. I haven’t seen some of them since they were quite young and am looking forward to it. Melissa and Evan though both have to work and can’t make it. Maybe they can arrange to all meet in Melbourne another weekend. They’ll be staying just a few streets away in the caravan park. I hope the weather stays good for them.
Link to the Sydney floods. HERE The first photo of the guy lying on the steps is taken not too far from Melissa’s flat.
Link to the spiders in Wagga. HERE On first glance it looks like a snow scene.
Now hopefully this will work, as I always forget how to make these links.
Bye……..
Yes, I’ve seen those photos. Wonderful what changes to one thing (amount of water) will bring to others (spiders). You ARE a good Mum to write that poem for your girl – you clearly have a lot of artistic talents!

Incredible pictures. **note to self** Send Opti some spider spray.** Hope those spiders don’t “disperse” your way. RYN: Limbaugh is not a politician (though I think he fancies himself an expert…seems to be a common problem these days) and I think he should be fired.
