10 years today.

I can’t believe it’s been 10 years today since my mum died. I’ve thought about her most of the day. But I did have her until I was 54 years old.
While we were in New Zealand my husband’s BIL had a massive heart attack and died. He was only 58 and a really nice person. It’s just a pity he allowed himself to get so overweight and that’s what killed him. However, he donated his organs, so hopefully some others benefited.
It has been so hot here the last few days and leading up to Christmas Day is going to be oven hotter. Last forecast was for 40C on Christmas Eve. My poor dogs are just lying outside trying to cool down. They don’t like the heat. The male dog I can hose down, as he loves the water being sprayed on him, but the female takes off if I look like wetting her.
Busy time of the year for me and it looks like I’ll be working extra hours, which means I’ll have to hassle with Centrelink who pay me a part pension. I have no idea how many hours I’ll be working so I wonder how much of my pension I will lose, even though it’s only for a week or two. I’m not looking forward to calling them as I could be on the phone for ages.
I’ve been busy the last week planning our Europe trip. Unfortunately though, I can’t book flights/trains in Italy or Poland as they aren’t taking bookings so far ahead.
Milan is our first stop, and I didn’t know that the painting of The Last Supper is in Milan. We’re doing a walking tour and the Convent of Santa Maria della Grazie where the painting is, will be our last stop. I think we’re allowed 15 mins for each group to look at it.
Melissa, Evan and Luka have booked us a nice hotel in Milan as a Christmas present. I have no idea what it’s like and I promised I wouldn’t look it up on the net, but would just get there and be surprised!
After Milan we have 4 days in Rome, with a day trip to Pompeii and Vesuvius. Haven’t done those hotel bookings either as Melissa is doing them and getting us a discount.
Nearly the end of 2012 and I wonder where it went. The whole year certainly flew past. Life’s too short to be flying past so quick.
I don’t know when I’ll get time to write another entry, although I will manage to read my favs.
So I wish you all a very Happy Christmas and may 2013 bring some peace and quiet to the world.

Bye…………….

You are a traveling woman! Your trip sounds fun. 🙂 Sorry to hear of your BIL and the sad anniversary. I take comfort in knowing that at least I had my loved ones for a little while, but it’s never easy when they die young.
