Shuffleboard

It is 3:20 in the morning. I just got home from another night shift at the bar. It was great. On Thursdays, we have a shuffleboard tournament. It starts at 8 PM, and brings in regulars and newbies. I was cooking tonight, which I love to do (except at home), but it wasn’t too busy. I worked with Kevin tonight, who is my favorite person to work with.

I was effective after closing, and finished my closing duties before 3 AM. My drive home was another anxious one. Walking on eggshells has become my normal, and I never know what I’m walking into when I get home.

I got home, checked the mail and came inside. I could hear Him sleeping. I came in quietly, shut the door and put my things down. He rustled awake and so I decided to enter the bedroom. I took off my watch and placed it on the charger and slipped in to my house shoes. He was half awake and asked, “Is that you?”

”Yes sir,” I responded in my most sweetest and loving voice.

He asked me how my night was and I told him it was better now. As I was walking out, he said something I didn’t understand. I turned around and asked him what he had said. He said, “I love you.”

”I love you too.”

I went and watered my flowers as I usually do whenever I get home. I’ve let the dogs out and I’m currently sitting in my backyard. I am decompressing from my day.

I will smoke a few cigarettes, make a journal entry, scroll on TikTok and Facebook for a second and then bring myself and the dogs in and go to the room to get my shower.

Today has actually been a decent day. I’m not used to it.
