Dodge City

Now when you say Dodge City, you need to be saying it in the same tone of voice as the tv commercial for Pace when the cowboys all yell out, "New York City?!" So now say Dodge City the same way & you’ll understand this entry so much better. lol

"How in the world did you end up in Dodge City?"

I hear that question at least 5 times in a shift when I work. The dead give-a-way? My mouth. Because I have an accent. A huge Southern accent.

Most guests pick up on my accent almost immediately & the first thing they say is, "You aren’t from around here, are you?" So I usually reply with, "Gee, I wonder what gave me away?" lol So then I explain that I am originally from Charleston, SC which in turn opens me wide open for "How in the world did you end up in Dodge City?"

Most times I will be nice and tell them, "Long story short, my husband retired from the USAF after 22 years & was hired on by Caterpillar and here we are."

But if they are really interested, then I give them the long version lol

Most of our guests are from the mid-west to the west coast area’s so they find my accent a bit of a novelty lol. For someone who loves to talk as much as I do, I don’t mind giving the long version to my story lol

At least it keeps the guests entertained lol

Hubby managed to get his parents to agree to meeting us in St. Louis on Friday so that he & I can drive back on Saturday so that I can be to work at 7am on Sunday.

*cue my inner Samuel L. Jackson*

He says we will leave when I get off work at 7am on Thursday. Spend Friday as a family & hit the road on Saturday.

That’s ok. I didn’t want to enjoy a day off. Especially after coming off a 6 day stretch. I can wait till July 11 to enjoy a true day off, well actually the 12th because I will spend a good portion of the 11th sleeping since I will be getting off work at 7 that morning.

But The Child getting to Ohio is a done deal and that is what really matters right? Not the fact that my husband is a wuss and can’t make a 9 hour drive by himself. I must be an excellent hand-holder or something.

Speaking of which, I need to book a hotel room for next weekend before I forget.

Till next time …
