It never rains, it pours.
I’m not just referring to the weather…
Both of my brothers are now unemployed, and the steering pump in my parents’ car failed today, and my dad can’t get unemployment benefits because he didn’t make enough money during a certain quarter (how does THAT make any sense!?)…and the list kind of goes on and on.
In spite of all that I am feeling mostly optimistic. It probably has largely to do with the fact that we get to go to a family reunion AND see Speed Racer, whom we haven’t seen in 2 months. We’re leaving tomorrow and spending the weekend. It will be nice to spend time with him, he is growing so quickly! Our reunion is at a hot springs, which I haven’t been to in ages. I am looking forward to going swimming!! I haven’t tried my suit on yet…maybe I should do that…I hope it still fits!
I am currently reading the Sookie Stackhouse novels. I’ve read the first 3 already in about the course of a week and a half – they are shorter than I am used to and I just go through them too quickly. They are fun to read though, I like the author’s voice even if the plots are not as convoluted as I generally prefer. I also just finished the most recent book in Jim Butcher’s Dresden Files…I was NOT happy!! I know it’s an author’s perogative to end a book that way but REALLY!? And then the title of the next one…just BLAH. I can’t take the suspense so I will have to force myself to not think about it.
I may have a job when we get back from the family reunion. I may have already mentioned this (I forget and I am too lazy to go find out) but my sister works at Krispy Kreme and told me they were hiring so I figured what the heck, a job is a job, and I went and applied. The manager there gave me an interview on the spot and I’ve been in touch with him since; the general manager is concerned about hiring me because we might try to take time off at the same time or something like that, and I assured him that this weekend would be the only weekend this summer where that would be the case. He told me to give him a call when I got back into town and we’d go from there. I’m really hoping this means I got the job and he is being really nice and waiting for me to get back.
I just have to say, as a little sidenote to this entry, that Geos are amazing little cars. They aren’t pretty, and they sure as heck aren’t luxury vehicles, but the one we are using just got 38 miles to the gallon on this last tank. It has like a 7-8 gallon tank so it only takes about $20 to fill it up, which depending on how much we drive it is every week and a half to two weeks. Wow! I feel really blessed that we have it, especially since we had to surrender the Impala last week.
Well that’s it for now. I’m going to go have myself some berry cobbler, hot out of the oven. YUM.
