Wonderful weather

We had such beautiful weather this past weekend. I was off friday and cleaned house and ran errands while Stanley worked. I try to stay out of the Walmart but it is so convienent, right across the street! But, I am so sick of everything being ‘Made in China’ yuk,,,did anyone watch the China Rises documentary on TV? I refuse to buy my milk at the walmart, so I usually end up at the Publix as well.
Saturday morning Stanley and 3 other neighbor men built a kayac launch at our little boat basin, they tiered it down to the water with railroad ties and then submerged some pvc piping and cement and build a launch pad for kayacs and canoes. I pulled him away about 1pm for some lunch and a rest or he would have continued to work. He thinks he is 30 instead of 60!! He is a powerhouse, he is also fixing our roof. It is a yearly job to check for wear and tear and replace the pebbles and tar! He bleaches the white roof first and uses his pressure washer, this lifts any weak places and so he has to repair these areas. It is hard hot work and can’t be done in one day…so he keeps at it but I worry about him up on the roof…sending up lots of cool drinks…ahh

Yesterday we went to church, our church is at the beach, I am not trying to be smart…but I have given up on organized religion…I can be more spiritual when I am out in nature! The Gulf water is warming up a little each week we go.. it is glorious to be there and see the water and the sky, the birds and the bird watchers! Wow, that was an experience…some folks came down the beach with their book and binoculars…they stopped about every 20 feet to take a look thru the binoculars…then they moved on…they stopped right by us…but would not even say hello…strange birds…Stanley tried to scare them by taking his short bathing trunks to expose his sunbathing speedo…!! oh my goodness. We are ornery ole farts!! We came home about 2:30pm and I fixed steaks on the grill with spinach feta cheese salad and sweet potatoes…we made some phone calls and got only answering machines…but oh well, the two of us had a great day!!

I had to turn the AC on when I got home today from work as the house seemed stuffy…I guess it is going to go up in the 80’s all week…
The snowbirds are heading home and we will be able to go out to dinner at a reasonable time now….

I’m not checking my spelling or grammar on this entry…its as I like it. Have a wonderful evening, talk more later. Hugs, Ollie

I am coming to visit so I can go to church with you!!!…… glad you two had a good day!! ………. 🙂

I think that we go to the same church! I have had with organized religion too, but I need to change because our oldest son is a minister! The last time he was home he got all ready for church, and I said, “oh, goody! Which church are we going to?” He changed back into his jeans and was not very happy with his mama. I taught Sunday School for twenty years. I feel like I need a rest. Love,

what a great outing…and I had to laugh at Stanley’s ‘display’…..would have loved to have seen their faces…lol I know what you mean about finding Spirit in nature…..some religions are very closed to it sadly…..but God is everywhere!!! (Did you read my entry about the Wind??? ) hugs and much love

Aloha… My daughter Emily (who died in July) was baptized at Keiki beach in Lahaina, Maui… much nicer than in any Church.. At that time… she chose her own middle name “Kehaulani” which means Heavenly mist… Gosh but I miss the beach… Gosh but I miss her… Sigh…………..

I’m thinking that I could live in Florida someday. Having nice weather all year long is a great incentive. Would I miss the snow? Hell no.

You said there were drawbacks to living in Florida. Would you care to share any of that? Bugs? I would have a problem with mold. I am very allergic to it.

Stanley seems to have enough energy for the world! I like your church. Good to hear you had a happy day.

Such a nice entry, dear Ollie! I miss the Gulf so much but Galveston is still there. It is just such a long drive for the hundred miles and the island is a madhouse in the summer. They had their annual Beach Party Bash last weekend and there were so many tourists that the place seemed a nightmare from the news films. I hate crowded beaches! I am thrilled to see you had written! Much love,

A big warm hug to you! I just talked to Mags on the phone. She called from the hotel in Brussels. We meet again next week! Take care,

OMG Ollie I give the Mother’s Almanac too! I loved that book when my children were young. Did you know Margarite Kelly’s son was killed in Iraq? He was a journalist.

I love the sound of your church…How pretty you are, I haven’t seen the photo before. Not been here often enough. You have the smile that matches the soul I read in your writing.
