Great fun

It was so much fun having my daughter and grandkids here from last Friday to Wednesday.  I was a little apprehensive about my daughter driving all the way by herself…I am so proud of her, I could never drive that distance by myself.  They arrived last Friday evening and we ordered pizza and I made a big salad…it started to rain and the temperature started to drop…that didn’t stop the kids though…Saturday we took the boat out in the drizzle and headed for the beach.

The waves were tremendous and each of the kids had new boogie boards from Grandpa.  My daughter and I didn’t go in the water but we collected some beautiful shells and big shark teeth….Stanley stood at the waters edge and watched the kids bob up and down in the waves…our granddaughter couldn’t get the hang of it of "riding the wave"…so Stanley says. " a grandpa’s gotta do what a grandpa’s gotta do"  he waded into the surf…..brrrrrr and helped our Kate ride the waves….

We had a camp fire later and after lunch made smores with the kids…Grandpa used his drimmel tool and rawhide and made shell necklaces for everybody.  The kids separated years of shells I had gathered and put all the sea glass into a great pile for me.  I let them empty the giant bowl of sharks teeth and take their pick.  It was such a relaxed and fun time.

I had decided that I was going to cook every night instead of going out and I am glad I did.  It increased the warm family time we had together.

We took them out to Myaaka State Park and let them walk the nature trail and climb the 10 story wooden viewing tower that overlooks the whole park.  I know they had a great time.

Back to work for us on Wednesday.  The week is over now and today I go to a baby shower for our young neighbor across the street.  I can see this neighborhood going thru another transition…with young couples moving in…

Have a great weekend friends,  I will try to post a picture of the brave swimmers if I can…

Waitin for a wave……………the water looks very calm in this picture…but it was really churning.

What a wonderful time with your family and WHAT a great grandad to wade into the cold water to teach the little ones. BTW, we’re not in FL, but we ARE on the Gulf Coast – Alabama. It’s taken me over three years to adjust and still we miss the PNW so our visit was very special. We’ve learned to appreciate the beauty of this place and enjoy all that it has to offer. RYN: Yes, I’m in healthcare, but not clinical. I manage the Admissions/Intake dept in the hospital where I work. All of the nurses in my Dept tease me because I won’t let them talk “business” while I’m trying to eat. My hat is off to all of you! Love

eating in is always more relaxing and fun than going out. I’m glad you had such a good visit.

Hi Ollie! So glad you’ve been enjoying your grandchildren. Sounds like you are making memories they will always remember. Isn’t that just the best? 🙂

Oh look what a beautiful photo of grandpa and the kids! lol. I’m glad you had such a wonderful time with them visiting. I am now enjoying my second week of Easter vacation. Schools start again next monday. Seppe, the 3 year old, had no school either and stayed with us last week. Ouch…we got very very tired! The girl, Iebe, was home with Son and Dil but went to day care while they were at work. This week Son and Dil take a few days off by turns to care for Seppe. We had very cold weather in March and a lot of snow last week. Today it seems as if Spring will ‘finally’ set in. We long for it! Take good care dear friend, love and a big hug. Say hi to V. from us. :o)
