Poetry: Shock and Awe

Shock and Awe
==============
I sit by watching
The clock on the wall —
Waiting for the end
Of this shock and awe.

Taste of salt
In my mouth, hear it growl —
From the tears of past
And blood of now.

Through space and time,
Perplexing and vast —
Falling from heaven,
Falling way too fast.

Excited for a moment
Of things that once were —
I’m left with just memories
Of greatness, for sure.

A thorn in my side,
My face filled with hurt —
At displeasure from a friend
And the vacancy of my worth.

Latent and raptured
From the sores of my fight —
Tonight I’ll rest lightly
Thinking of this plight.

All I ask is forgiveness
So things aren’t up in the air;
Until we talk again,
“I hope you take care.”
