Poem: Stone
Stone
~~~~
Torn from hinges of lament,
A fasting of promises
Leave my shadow
Broken and bent..
Old times of frivolity
And pastimes of folly;
Now settled with open eyes
Fixated on lolly.
Sold are ambitions
As soiled hands writhe —
Replaced by admissions
To no God had tithed.
Why the sorrowful smile
‘cross lips closed and powerless;
Shallow breaths empart whispers
To a soul’s sandy hourglass..
Grains losing wars to gravity
Trickle down a soul’s time left;
The sun is setting slowly
On days we have only just met.
Old companion losses
Tarnish waning empathy.
Man’s eternal falseness
Gaining no more sympathy.
Hopeless fear is never ending
And reaching will cease;
But left are reckless memories
And a stone to Rest in Peace.
