Here’s to you mom

Happy mother’s day to everyone that is a mother, is like a mother, or has a mother.

I believe every day should be mother’s day to celebrate the women that deserve recognition for all of the years of work, heartache, joy, stress, sleepless nights, and frendship.

Hopefully everyone has had as delightful a day as I have.

This morning I woke up and stayed in bed with Chewie for a little bit. We cuddled, watched some TV, and spent a little extra time being by each other. He wished me a Happy Mother’s day.

I guess Chewie IS trainable. Because sometime between last Mother’s Day and today, I told him how hurt I was that I wasn’t acknowledged last year. I know I am not a mom. But I also know I do a lot of things a mom would do when Isaiah is with us. And I also know that his own mom is a sorry excuse for a mother. Sometimes I think my job as a "like a mom" influence in Isaiah’s life is even harder than the job of being a mom. I have nothing to compare it to, but for now it’s what I believe.

So Chewie got me a nice card and told me if there is anything I wanted or needed today, he was at my disposal.

Then I went to my mom’s house for brunch. My dad and sister prepared breakfast crepes with an egg center and a cheese/wine sauce. They also prepared a bowl of fresh cut fruit, a baked, braided raspberry pastry, and made home made fresh squeezed strawberry orange juice. Yum!!!

My grandma and grandpa joined us.

Very lovely day.

I also got a call from Madaya and her dad this morning wishing me a Happy Mother’s day. That was very nice. I appreciated it and felt special.

All in all, a good day.

Well yes darlin…you do deserve recognition as a mother because you are like a mother! Its the same thing with my friend Michell who married one of my best friends from high school Rob. He has two kids from his previous marriage that Michell has totally taken on the mom roll to. They love her so much and she does so much for them and she deserves to celebrate mother’s day like all of us moms!!

In my book you are NOT LIKE a mom….. YOU ARE a mom! Just because you didn’t push these kids out into the world, makes you no less of a mom to them! You have gone thru all the work, joys, heartache, stress, sleepless nights etc with these kids too, just like you would your natural children. It’s what makes you a MOM. Not the nine months of pregnancy. Glad your day was so special… cuz U are!

Hooray for communication! Gotta love when it works.

I hate following MsTT in your notes. She always says what I wanted to say, and usually better. But it IS true that you are mom, regardless who gave the actual birth. And you deserve all the best.

Someone does not have to come out of your womb to be your child….I agree that you have been mother to both Isaiah and Madaya. I even saw some ‘like a mother’ cards at the store… So Happy Mother’s Day to you! :)))
