Loooong with pics!!!!!

I open up this browser I don’t know how many times in a day, hoping to write more than a few silly sentences…. Then I lose all motivation or mommy duty calls! As sit here right now trying not to lose motivation again… I have a peanut in one arm… food sitting in front of me getting cold (lol) and trying to type with one hand! I’m thinking this may take awhile!

**Okay so I started the above paragraph about 3 days ago, lol, and duty called about the time I got to the end. I am going to attempt to finish and POST this today!!!

On February 7, 2013 at 4:50pm my water decided it was done and starting spatting about at it’s own free will. I’m not going to lie when I say that I immediately called my sister telling her I peed myself! Ha! After deciding I should call the doctor and see what she was thinking, It was time to tell Cody to hurry home, It’s time to go.

We finally made it through rush hour traffic and arrived at the hospital around 6:30pm. They then confirmed that it was indeed amniotic fluid and not urine that I was feeling slowly leak out of me. Around 7-7:30 it was time to walk. "WHAT?! You want me to walk for an hour while I am having 2-3 minute contractions at full force???? Alright! Lets do this." It wasn’t as bad as I had imagined it to be, I continued to walk on and off for hours at a time until around 11pm when I decided I was done. They gave me a benedryl for the itching and let me sleep away my contractions. Yep not kiddin, over night my contractions went down to almost nothing. Unfortunately before I had awaken at 5am the following morning they decided to start the pitocin. NEVER AGAIN!!!!! My body had a horrible reaction to it and I was in pain. BURNING PAIN from HEAD TO TOE!!!! (They assume… that I am indeed allergic.) Awesome right??? No!

After about 2 hours of that shit I had no other choice but to ask for help. Ask for SOMETHING that was going to even make this somewhat bearable. Mind you, I was 200% AGAINST an epidural, or any other pain medication that was offered. But, with the reaction to the Pitocin I had no other choice. When the anesthesiologist came in to talk with me we came to an agreement. She decided to go ahead and insert the epidural but only give me 1/8th the amount of medication that they would normally give so that I could still feel everything but it would only counter-act the pitocin. and that there would be a button i could press incase i decided that just wasnt enough.  (If I could have I would have thrown that button on the floor ) But i did not use the button. It helped enough that yes I could still feel everything!!! I was able to move my legs at my will, i was able to feel each and every contraction and i was happy with just that!!

About 10am the nurse came in to check me. I was at 9cm! She said "I’ll have the other nurse start getting the room ready and call your dr so she can head over. This is about to get rough and we are going to be here for a while. but I have no doubt in my mind you will do great!" Very awesome of her to have such high hopes for me. Cody went out to let everyone waiting know what was going on. and at 10:20 my nurse came back in and checked me again.  Time to get baby into the canal! With about 20 minutes of light pushing she was ready to go!

My doctor walked in at 10:45 and we began to push. With everything inside of me and Cody by my side telling me i was doing fantastic I pushed and I pushed and yes….. 11 minutes later my Nykaila René Steffens had enetered the world!!!

I was the most amazing feeling I could ever explain to have her put right there on my chest. Covered in all the nasty stuff she had been batheing in for the last 9.5 months i couldnt help but kiss her little head!!!! She was perfect!!!

While the doctor sewed me up they took baby girl to weigh her and mesure her up (Of course after daddy cut the cord and held his princess for the first time ever!) Most amazing feeling ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We are now…. A Family!

After everyone came into the room to meet her as well… Grandma and Grandpa… Papa and Nana… Auntie Jelly and Sarah… and Uncle Adam…. it was time to head over to our new room!!!

Yep thats all I remember….. apparently my day was over at that point.   my tempature SHOT up to 102 and i was shaking uncontrollably. They get me loaded up to join my family in the new room and take me over…. while eating my lunch (THANK GOD HAHA I was starving) And conversating with my mom. I do not remember a thing from there on. 🙁 Breaks my hear but I am healthy and thats what matters… I have pictures to show me what happened while i was out of it.

They gave her, her first bath and got her all ready to be shown off again!

Thats. that.   The story of where my little peanuts journey began!!!!

Daddy with his little princess!

Holding my peanut admiring her beauty!!!!

Peanut being awed at by Grandma and Grandpa!

Papa and Nana

I love birth stories! How terrible to get such a reaction to pitocin. Yikes! And to not have memories from the rest of that day. Good thing for photos. Hope you are doing well today:-)

Yay!!! I can’t wait! <3

That sounds rough, but it also sounds like everything went as well as it could, which is good. She looks adorable! Congratulations!
