When I say rest time…

…I mean it. By 1.00pm, I’m ready for a coffee, lunch and a sit down! No more dirty nappies (diapers) and a nice break to rest my back (which is causing me a considerable amount of pain right now)….

BUT, as usual, there seems to be one child that wants to stay awake, keep everyone else from resting and one that wants to prevent me from having a bit of lunch and a sit down. It sucks, I’m hungry. I should buy some curtains for downstairs. Most of the kids seem content to sleep if there’s a bit of light but I have one who is very hard to settle without pitch black. It’s a sub ground floor (basement) so it’s not exactly flooded with natural sunlight.

Rawr. Ya know… I don’t force the kids to sleep. In fact, I really don’t mind if they look at a book quietly or just lie there but I do have a rule that they’re not to bother their neighbour (much like other daycares, I have special sleep mats and blankets) and they’re not to get up and wander around or play with toys. Rest time… is rest time. Being a solo operaator, I need this time. 5 kids damn near does my head in!

The meeting with the photographer (meeting) went sooooooo well. What a lovely lady. She drove all the way up here from Denver (because I was having a hard time finding a good week-night evening to get down there with the daycare kids being here until 5.30pm). Turns out she’s also an air steward which is why her schedule is a little all over the place. Anyway, we swapped travel stories and she was just lovely. She showed me some of her albums and they were gorgeous. She’s certainly taleented and I was very impressed by her portfolio. We talked about my visions for the wedding and how she could help me convey those in the photos. We’ve decided that while we like the idea of having a few posed photos, we want a collection of candid, photojournalistic pictures that tell their own story. We told her that we’re a goofy couple, that we like to laugh and be silly and that we really want our photos to be less formal and more relaxed and rough looking. I’m excited…

Her package price was very reasonable so we’ve booked her in and that’s a whole other thing I can cross off. Once the flowers and cake are sorted on Saturday (and the first dress fitting is done), I have the major things organised.

I have a lot of the little stuff: Decorations, Favours, Music to get a handle on BUT I’m crusin’

My friend Sarah is coming to Colorado in 2 weeks! I’m soooooo friggin’ exciting. I haven’t seen her in a year so I’m really happy. Her Dad lives in Breckenridge which is a couple hours from here. I’m planning on hanging with her for a day on the snow and then she’s coming to stay with me from April 6th-April 11th. I’m seriously contemplating taking a few days off the daycare thing for that.

Ok, I know that’s a little unfair but honestly, this isn’t something I can do everyday! I can’t just hang with my friend for 6 days anytime I like so to me, it seems worth it. Jimmy will be in Lousianna and it’ll be good to have company. I want to show her around Colo Springs and allow the girls to spend some time with Khye while they can.

*bites nails*

On the other hand I get a little guilty about being unreliable. I’ve not had a sickie (even when I WAS sick) in 8 months. That’s the problem with being a business owner (well, sort of), people rely on you! Ugh… I miss working for other people, LOL. So much easier to be able to call in sick and not feel bad about it.

We’ll see.

It’s rare I get that type of quality time so I almost feel deserving of it.
