could i be a whiter shade of pale?
It’s warming up oh so very nicely here now. I’ve been rummaging through boxes (that I still haven’t unpacked) that contain my summer clothes. I had some summery things in my wardrobe, but as time goes on I know that I need more. It’s 31 degrees today and hot. Great day for the Melbourne Cup. The horse tipped to win is Makybe Diva… she’s won it before so I might pop down to the TAB for a small punt. I can’t remember a year when I haven’t won a little something (either out of the sweep or with a small bet). When I say a small bet, I mean that as literally as possible. I’m a $2 win and place girl, can’t bear that part with more than $5, especially if there’s no absolute guarantee for a win…lol. So if she wins her odds won’t be sky high but meh.
I bought a couple of nice skirts on ebay. They came in the mail yesterday and I’ve been swanning about in one. It’s annoying to still be bigger than I like to be, but hell… can only work on one thing at a time and I have exams starting Friday *bites nails* I spent the day studying yesterday but from the look of past exams, they seem to like to throw in trick ansers in the multiple choice section. That’s hella annoying!!!
On another note, my sickness ran away to annoy someone else for a week. I’m still getting over a nasty cough and I was hooked up to my nebuliser for the better part of my day on Friday, but now that seems to be good too. I really hate feeling unwell, I just go to pieces. Luckily for me super hubby looked after me, the kids and the house while I was sick. The only problem I still have is partial hearing loss in my right ear. It’s so very very annoying because it’s a mixture of a foggy, "my ears ahve just popped in high altitude" feeling and I can also hear a drumming which only contributes further to me not being able to hear well. I went to the doctors and had my ears syringed out as a precaution, but the problem is still there. So back I go tomorrow night. It’s so frustrating that I will probably have a hard time concentratingduring my exam on Friday if I can’t rectify this. *sigh*
Yesterday was one of those gorgeous blue skied sunny days. I decided to take the kids to the beach for the afternoon. They love splashing in the water and playing in the sand and I am always more than happy to switch on the ipod and bask under the beach umbrella. I put both girls in their new sunsmart gear and lathered them up with sunscreen and hats and they ran around enjoying themselves. One thing really annoys me. I tan everywhere but my lower legs (shins). WHYYYYYYYYY????????????? It doesn’t seem to matter what I do of late, I just don’t change colour there! It’s got so bad that if i’m not careful I end up looking like I’m wearing white socks. So embarrassing. I’m going to have to find a way to overcome this issue, possibly find a nice solarium…. ask someone in the industry!
Now that we’ve hit November (which is scary) it’s only 28 days until Miss Em arrives in Melbourne! It’s going to be good fun having someone else around to keep me company. Somedays I feel like i’ve reverted into a child again. My only real worry is that I feel like I’ll be a bit of a disappointment! I’ve really seriously been out of the party scene for such a long time that I don’t know any of the good clubs, pubs and hangouts! So we might have to discover these together. *bites nails*
Have a good day people.

RYN How funny, I was tempted… especially when he gave me attitude – I mean god, I didn’t mean to inconvenience him by driving down the street. GRR. I still feel bad though! And you’re SO lucky you’re near a beach. I’d go swimming in Lake Burley Griffin, but I’d get some sort of toxic poisoning. Yum!

Thanks for your notes, it’s always nice to hear a point of view. I guess I’m just not thinking all that clearly when I write these things – well I am, what I’m feeling is genuine… but see I feel better now but earlier I was a mess. Not to worry. 🙂

The same survey twice..yes, tragic, but the first time I did it was around four years ago… so somehow it was interesting to compare answers.

I missed the Melbourne Cup for the first time ever. And like you – I’ll only ever play the workplace sweeps – and I often win something, if only a place. Can you believe she won 3 years running. WOWZA!
