2 down, will it ever change???

2 of my latest entries have disappeared into the never-to-be-found cyber world. It’s so frustrating especially given the fact that I seem to have hit a slump in relation to updating. I know i’ll find my feet again soon… but ahhh pooh.

What can I say? I suppose I could elaborate a little further on clinicals… but would that bore you? I have all my stuff written down in a paper journal, but transferring stuff is just ick. I suppose you could say that I learned a lot. Especially when it comes to dealing with the heirachy of nursing. As a student I am a mere blot on the face of this earth. Even the Nursing aides are above me. Of course this doesn’t mean that the staff weren’t nice, they were (well, the majority of them were) I only had 2 issues and they came in the for of Lexie, a middle aged, bleached thing that looked like she’d been sucking on a sour lemon for the better part of her 50 years (who also, might I just add, detested students in any form!). She was in the Day Preocedure Unit (Day Surgery) and I really liked being there. I got to see some very interesting procedures and go through following my patients from admitting, to surgery and then out to recovery. Lexie was the only blight on my time because everytime I’d run into her she’d sneer at me or make a horrible remark. Of course I’m much bigger than that and I’ve worked my fair share of abusive jobs so luckily they didn’t bother me… but she really was a horrible (looking) and dreadful person who should not have chosen nursing as her career path. Then there was Gerry who was the Nursing Unit Manager on 3 North (the Ortho/Neuro ward). This guy was just *shudders* ughhhhhhhhhhhhhh. He was a nurse that obviously truely thought he was a doctor. To that end he also had this strict heirarchy of people that he would communicate and that didn’t include students. In fact he would purposefully go out of his way to ingore you, or snap at you. The rest of his staff were ok..but us? Oooooh no, not a chance of cracking through that evil, rude exterior. But that’s 2 people out of a possible 50 that I worked with and all the others were so wonderful that these asses were just tiny pustules on the very wide plain of my experience. Overall I had a good time (even if it was tiring and now my feet want to drop off)! I’ve got 2 exams on the 4th & 8th November and then it’s all over for 3 months!!!! ~Bliss~

Nowwwww. What else can I report??? Ohhh yes. I’m a bit *yay* about this news!!! One of the gals from ODland is coming to Melbourne to stay for 3 months!!! Whoooooooot! AND she’s staying with me!!!! *grin a mile wide* Well, that’s unless the kids and/or my schedule and/or my noisy household annoy her… But it should be much fun! We’re gonna have fun Em!!!!!

Now I MUST go and catch up with a few faves!!!
