I was just watching my videos on YouTube, and I came across one titled "Triumph Over Tragedy".  It is about accepting death and moving on past it…in this particular case, the death of a child.  Not MY child, but my cousin’s.

Apparently, no matter how much time goes by, I will never totally get over Cierra’s death.  I barely knew the baby girl, but her death has affected me in a tremendous way.  So has another related death.  Cierra was my cousin Gene’s daughter with his fiance’.  Gene’s wife, Angie, had died not even two years before Cierra’s death.  Both have been hard to cope with.

I just wanted to note that I’m thinking of them both again.  Nothing new to add, really, except that I’m not working anymore.

Oh yeah, there IS something to add!

I saw Loretta Lynn in concert last week!!!!  It was awesome!!!!!  I saw her on June 13 in Austin at a place called Stubb’s Barbecue.  Hardly the type of place you’d picture a legend to perform, but it was great, man.  She had her son Ernie, her daughters Patsy and Peggy, her granddaughter Tala, and several other people I was not too familiar with perform, too.  One of them was Mark Lowry, with whom I AM familiar.  She introduced him as one of the greatest gospel singers you’d ever hear.

Anyway, it was great.  We went to Conroe to visit with my brother the next day, then came home for a night.  Then, we went to Corsicana to camp out with Amie and Linda, two friends I haven’t seen in years.  That was awesome, too!!!!

Lots of children between the adults there.

The visit with Johnny, my brother, was really good, too.  It was nice to have all of us in one place at one time again.  That doesn’t happen much anymore.  I saw my brand new nephew Hunter for the second time….he’s Joyce’s son….my little sister’s baby.

All in all, we had a pretty great week!

Tinged with sadness, am I today, but I will live.

Love to all,

Jack
