Visit from a passing angel

My Mikey, I love you

Today, we had our very own visit from an angel.

I haven’t updated in a while, so nobody on here knows that My Mikey is going to have a hysterectomy soon…next Monday, in fact.  Due to that fact, this week is busy with doctor appointments, in preparation.

Mikey had an appt yesterday that he had to reschedule for today, because the car wouldn’t start, and nobody would jump us off.  This morning, determined to skip THAT fate again, I tore off half a pizza box and made a sign (with a black sharpie) that read

NEED

JUMP

HAVE

CABLES

When I stood out at the curb, in the 27 degree weather, people just whizzed by, a few even having the gall to point and laugh.  That really hurt my feelings, and I came in and dashed off an e-mail to my mother saying people were cold-hearted and I hated people.

So Mikey decided to give it a shot.  He took his cane with him, for good measure AND as a sympathy tool.

Within a few minutes, this woman named Gena pulled into our driveway.  Since the car didn’t want to start, Gena took Mikey to his doctor’s appointment.  Then she came back to try again.  After several more unsuccessful attempts, she asked if I could install a new battery, if she got one.  I didn’t give it a thought…just answered, "I think so."

So she went somewhere.  I took the old battery off, and then it hit me…..

I couldn’t expect or even HOPE for a complete stranger to buy us a battery for the car!!!!!!  Well, Gena came back with heavy duty jumper cables, and we finally got the car started.  Gena told me to go to a shop and get a new battery installed.  I told her I couldn’t pay for that, and she said she didn’t need us to!!!!!!  OMG!!!!!!

So we went, and they installed new terminal thingys and a brand new battery.  Gena picked up the tab!!!!!  The mechanic who installed it had to have me sign the work sheet, and I saw that it cost Gena $102!!!!!!!!

And no repayment necessary.

We had had our visit with a passing angel.

It’s a great day.

Love,

Jack

p.s.  The car runs like it’s new now, too.  Apparently, a lot of the troubles were due to the bad battery and an electric-dependent system.</sp
