The July 4th Party

We had a family party on July 6th; a delayed celebration of the 4th. We went to cousin Sean’s house, where we had an absolutely magnificent time! We now have several new friends, and, best of all, we got to spend time with our grandteen, Nathanael, again.

Remember my last entry, where I said I wouldn’t hide myself anymore? Well, I got a chance to test the waters on that one. We met a very cute gay couple at the party, and Laurie and Chase latched on to each other like crazy, so at one point, right in front of Nathanael, I told his partner Rick, "Since she’s snatched him for now, you come over here and I’ll keep YOU for a while!" Nathanael didn’t even flinch or anything. It was like he didn’t even think about it, but I know he knew.

But yes, it was a great party! When we were leaving, I hugged Tante Blanche (Laurie’s aunt, adoptive mother of our grandson) and said, "I love you, Tante!" She immediately said, "I love you, too." That’s the first time there’s been no delay in responding, and it felt awesome!!!! She’s "Big Mama" of the family, so it felt like I was knighted by the Queen or something!

I got a ticket on the way home; even counting THAT, it was still such a great day. I totally look forward to the next time we get to go there.
