People never really die

Life never fully ends. Mama sent me a survey earlier. One of the questions was about who you’d spend time with from your past. Her answer was her brother Ray.
As most of you may know by now, my Uncle Ray has been dead for nearly 20 years. On November 7, it will BE 20 years. It got me to thinking….

As long as there is such a thing as a person’s memory, and as long as people remember each other, no one really totally dies. Yes, I realize this is not a new thought. In fact, it’s an ages-old thought. Still, it makes sense.

Voices from the past still speak. Thoughts from the past still make others think. Influences from the past still influence. Words from the past still challenge and inspire. Things that we all probably want….to be remembered – and not just remembered, but remembered in a distinct, special way. I always jokingly say that I want to go down in history as “the most colorful goddamned character anyone’s EVER known!” Well, it’s not entirely a joke. I DO want to be remembered as colorful. Maybe not all good. Definitely not all bad. But definitely colorful. I want people to remember my fire…my spark, as I call it. I want people to remember more than the times that I’m sad and depressed….remember the times I get fired up over something, or the times when I get all passionate about one of my causes. You know, remember me as someone that has changed you somehow, or touched you somehow. Hell, even if I do something WRONG or BAD that changes something in you for the better….what’s the harm? I won’t have lived in vain.

Forgotten existences are vain existences, aren’t they? Maybe. I don’t believe there IS one single forgotten existence, actually.

I have wonderful memories of so many people. Some of them, I only met once. Some of them were more involved in my life. All of them matter to me, and I love them. I always have, and I always will.

No one ever really dies. You see?

My Key, My Beautiful Mikey Baby, I love you forever times PI cubed plus one,

Your Jack
