On our way *EDIT* been there and back
We are on the highway (I am a passenger), going to see Nathaneal and our Laurie-family RIGHT NOW!!!! It has been three years. Never again!
———————–written the next day:
Yesterday was one of the greatest days of my life! We got to spend time with cousins Sean and Suzanne, Aunt (though we call her Tante) Blanche, Suzanne’s daughter Govia, and our beautiful baby Nathaneal, who is getting rather grown!!!!
Nathaneal and I really spent the bulk of our visit talking and laughing with each other….I guess you could say we had a monopoly on each other? Whatever you’d call it, I loved the hell out of it! He and I are so much alike, and we have about the same sense of humor and interests. Also, I believe he knows how special and important he is to me, and I really do believe that I am just as special and important to him….and that is a totally awesome feeling!
He is 6′ tall now, too! Next month, he will turn 13, so the height is a little surprising. He told me he considers himself funny-looking. Not I, said the proud Grandpa! I think he is absolutely beautiful! If anyone doesn’t agree, they’re just wrong, so there! 🙂
I can’t even begin to describe how totally cool it was to spend…probably about five hours…just one-on-one with my grandson! The ONLY bad thing about it was that we eventually had to leave. THAT was hard. That left me feeling so empty, and I wanted to bawl my eyes out, but I didn’t want to upset Laurie. I know this separation will not be very long, this time, because we have already made plans to go back next week, but it was still the hardest thing in the world to tell him goodbye (for now, only for now!). I wanted so badly to be able either to stay or to take him with us. In that regard, I think I am the luckiest man in the world…my daughters and their children are so much a part of who and what I am now, and we all fit together really well! I thanked Laurie for giving me a family….grandchildren, children, and their Mama/Grandma. I also told Tiffany thank you for bringing this wonderful young man into the world. After all, there are always other options.
We were able to get photos and a little video footage, this time, and I posted the video on YouTube so that Tiffany could see her son, who mentioned her and his brother and sisters…just like he ALWAYS does. He’s big on family, too, and I LOVE THAT!!!!!
Aside from the heartbreak of leaving, to go home, yesterday was one of the most amazing days of my life! I can’t even find words to explain how happy that visit made me!!!!!
Love and smiles, everybody,
Hermy
So happy to hear it was awesome 🙂
