If you feel the call of the wild tugging at you

Ok, after that title, I may be in trouble for this NOT being a juicy posting!!!!!  John and David, don’t kill me!!!!!!

We’ve had a busy day, I tell ya.  My Mikey got to mow part of the lawn today.  I didn’t think it was a good idea, really, but he was pretty insistent about wanting to try.  So try he did.  I am so proud of what he did of the yardwork!!!!!  That’s My Baby!!!!!!

There’s more news about Memaw and Nanny.  Sad news about Memaw.  Just news about Nanny.

Memaw woke Mama up by screaming at the top of her voice at bout 1:30am this morning.  I hope she was just reacting to a nightmare that she hadn’t  realized she’d awakened from yet.  More, though….

She’s gotten that vacant stare to her.  Last night, apparently out of the blue, she just STOPPED responding to  Mama in any way.  Mama tried to talk to her, but she said it was as if Memaw didn’t hear her at all.  All she did was stare into space with a vacant look.

I don’t like what we have to do tomorrow, but concern for my mother and my grandmother is more or  less forcing it….tomorrow morning, My Mikey and I are going to a rest home in town to see what one has to do to admit someone.  We need to mention that Memaw is on Medicare and Social Security.

I fucking HATE that we have to do this.  Memaw has always been one of the greatest women alive, and for it to end this way royally sucks!!!!!

There is MY mother  to think about, too, though.  Watching her mother’s decline is taking such a drastic toll on Mama.  It breaks my heart to see my used-to-be-happy-peppy-person-Mama looking and acting so worn out almost all the time.  Of course, Wayne doesn’t help things, but I don’t want to  go there right now.  This is about those I love and admire, not about our detractors.

Nanny went to the Municipal Court today over her shoplifting experience.  She paid $500, so she said.  I would like to see a receipt or something…whatever it is that they give.  It’s been a  while since I paid a ticket in this town.

When I called her and asked her how court went, I got a LONG lecture about how I will get arrested if I go outside to smoke while I’m still shopping.  She just doesn’t admit the point.  The story has changed.

The first day, the cop told my sister that Nanny bagged some items and just walked out the door with them.  Nanny said she stood in line for a while, then she decided to go outside for a cigarette.  The first day, she agreed that she had carried the bag outside with her.  Not anymore.  Now, she says that she had a cart (for Vienna Sausages and hot dogs?!!!), and she left it inside while she went to smoke.  She says they told her that since she had the cart in front of the register and didn’t pay for the stuff, she stole it.

Nothing will convince her that she is wrong.  I’ve given up arguing.  She still tells me several times a day, when I see her, how my mother won $1 million in a lawsuit, which is NOT true.  We settled out of court fr $200,000.  Lawyer fees ate up about half of it, and we split the rest five ways.  Each of us received about $18,000.  With my share, I bought a house (with some help from Mama and MH).  Not a million….a hundred thousand.

Of course, Mama is evil and must be thoroughly destroyed.  I keep trying to remind Nanny that this is the woman that HER SON loved with all his heart.  He would not want her talking about HIS WIFE that way.  It does no good.  I don’t even think she cares anymore, because Daddy isn’t here to defend her.

The best part of the night was when our best friend, Tiffany (read : Daddy’s girl), called and talked for a while.   She read jokes to me, which cracked me smooth ass up.  I heard Naomi gurgling in the background.   I adore hearing the grandchildren!!!!

So it’s ending ok.  I’m mildly depressed, but I’ll live.

My Mikey, I love you forever times PI cubed plus one,

Your Jack

I am sorry to hear about MeMaw. From everything you have told me, she has been one of the best people to ever walk the planet. Nanny cannot admit she is wrong to save her life. I do not think she paid five hundred dollars for a first time shoplifting offense. But who knows? Unless she produces a receipt, then noone can call her on it.
