world’s 1st spanish speaking lithuanian irishman
in the last month, kalen has become quite the talker. he went from "mama," "momo" and "hi" to an assortment of words in both english and spanish. i guess he has been saying a few of the spanish ones for a while, but being the terrible mother i am, i just thought he was being nonsensical. marco speaks to him in spanish a lot, but he tends to use english when teaching him words.
the other day i was in the kitchen with kalen, making breakfast (so domestic i know). marco came in and gave me a kiss and kalen shouted "beso! beso!" i realized that he was saying "kiss! kiss!" i know everyone thinks their kid is exceptionally smart, just like everyone thinks they have good taste in music and superior driving skills, but how amazing is that?
my little bilingual irish-lithuanian son.
so frickin cute it almost makes me see why people choose to do the baby thing more than once. ALMOST…
the house is coming along. i realized just now i havent really talked about it. so now i will.
i did something i never really thought i would do and bought a house in the city. not in boston proper, but in the "suburb" of Cambridge. It has a yard, it has two and a half bathrooms and it has 3 bedrooms. The basement room could be a bedroom too i guess, but i don’t think we need that many bedrooms. it just encourages more people to be long-term visitors.
visitors such as hallie, who arrived unannounced at my door with her son on sunday and who shows no signs of leaving. i have been trying to get back to where hallie and i used to be, so i sent her a letter, an actual pen and paper letter, telling her whats been going on with me and just letting her know that i miss her. it probably shouldnt be a surprise, but i was shockd to realize the other day tht marco is my best friend and probably my only real friend. i have people i hang out with, friends from college who come by and bring kalen more toys he doesn’t need (the perk of being the only of that group to actually have a kid). i also have my friends from the gym, marco calls them the mommy brigade, because they are all stay at home moms with kids under the age of 5. he gets unending amusement out of the fact that three of them have kids named madison, and two have kids named declan. (you could make the argument that kalen is a trendy name, i know).but anyway, i have felt hallies absence a lot lately and i wanted to fix that.
"let’s get together soon," i wrote. i didn’t think she would take that to mean, "why not stay at my house for an indefinite period of time?"
what’s making it worse is that she doesnt want to do anything. she sleeps til 11, and then just sits around. desmond obviously doesnt sleep til 11, youre lucky if that kid sleeps past 6:30, so aunty lia has beenspending a lot of quality time with him. which is fine, i love desmond. but she isnt really do anything with him even when she doe get up. i took the boys to the children’s museum with my friend bridget and her daughter … you guessed it … madison. hallie wouldn’t come.
how long does this need to go on before i am allowed to say something?
awwwwwww.. thats so lovely!!!. wish you all the good things in life =) wish you peace, happiness and love
