Extreme Home Makeover Came to Town

I don’t pay attention to the local news.  I don’t get the newspaper, nor do I listen to the local radio stations.  I did hear rumor around the office about EHM coming to town.  Didn’t really think about it too much.  I don’t watch the show and have only seen a few minutes here or there.  I’ve seen the host, Ty Pennington on TV at some point.  So I am not completely in the dark.

Last night I took two of my clients/friends to dinner.  I like them and we always have a good time.  I randomly picked a local restaurant.  We decided to sit in the bar at one of those high top bar tables.  We were on our first round of drinks when JM almost falls out of her seat.  She points out two people to came in quietly and sat at the bar.

Turns out it was two of the designers – Tracy and Paul. After a little while, Ty Pennington came in and joined them.   No one really was paying attention but my two friends.  We sent word that we would like to buy them drinks or dessert to thank them for coming to our town.  Ended up having our picture  taken with them.  My two friends were so excited.  The ‘stars’ were very friendly.

Now I am watching to see who they picked as the lucky family.  Turns out there was a woman who was pregnant and when she went into labor, her husband went out to feed the farm animals before they left for the hospital.  She found him, dead, outside in the pasture when she went looking for him.  She had the baby eight hours later.  Her husband never had time to fix up the house.  Then, because everything was in his name, she had to buy the house, car, etc. from his estate.  People raised money for her to cover these costs.  He also didn’t have health insurance so she was still in debt.  Of course, there was no money to fix up the 300 year old farm house.

In steps EHM.  They will be working on the house for the next six days.  Loads of volunteeers already on board.  All supplies donated.  Family on their way to Disney World. 

Very much excitement in the community.
