Even though it should have been a typical day of errands it turned out to be odd. I was in a hurry yesterday and saw some Cute looking pink Guess brand dress shoes on sale. The mary janes that I had for years broke right on the buckle. And I thought my suede Doc Martes Mary Janes may get ruined in the snow. The Guess shoes were $20. I shouldn’t have assumed that they would fit.

I have very narrow feet. Every step I took the left shoe splayed out on the side and my foot was sliding. I had taken off one of the tags and forgotten about it. So today the cashier had to make a whole new sticker tag for the shoe. He apologized for taking so long. I replied that’s fine it was my fault.

Then we went to Sobeys grocery store. I bought spinach, pate, cheese and a package of angus ground beef that was on sale. This meat offered promises of being grain fed and no antibiotics or hormones. I took it home and planned on having a taco salad tonight. Then I glanced at the sticker for the production date. It was July 2011. No that isn’t a typo. So i thought about it, looked it up online to try to figure out if the sticker was an indication of something other than a date. Finally it set in that it was indeed the date.

So I sent Karl a text to let him know that I wanted to takethe meat back to the Store. We got there and after we walked in we went to customer service. I told the lady there the meat had a date on it from 2011. She said "that’s not good" or something along those lines. She really did not seem too worried though.

We walked around the store and I said again how I couldn’t believe they were selling that meat. It was on sale but that is still so wrong. Usually there are employees walking all over the store. There were only people behind their counters though. I was going to take the rest of the boxes from the cooler and just hand it to one of the employees to throw out. There were too many packages though. So I grabbed one and went to tell the lady behind the meat counter. I said I bought some meat here earlier and the date on it was from 2011. A normal person would say "That isn’t good we will take it off the shelves." Her reply was "The meat is just fine I had some the other day."

I was in disbelief. I said you shouldn’t be selling expired meat" and walked away. Then I informed the first employee who I saw who she was and what she said. He agreed with me about the meat not being on the shelves. He was a younger guy so I don’t think he will do much about it other than maybe getting it off the shelf. If I see meat there again that is way past the expiration date I will talk to a manager about it. I just noticed the bag of spinach I bought is expiring in 4 days. That isn`t worth going back over. I`m really not impressed with Sobeys though. And just before we went into the store on the first trip I had been saying how the prices are pretty good on dollar days and how the Sterling Silver Sobeys meat is good quality. That isn`t the brand of meat I bought but still.

After Karl and I went to Shoppers. As we exited this lady outside begged us for some money and said she hadn’t eaten for a few days. I told her about the Friendship Inn and The foodbank. She said The Friendship Inn isn’t open on weekends. I did give her a few bucks because she had this desperate look about her and it is cold out. I don’t know if that money really did go towards food.

After that Karl and I went to Mcdonalds. The girl there was having a really tough time Understanding English. I tried to be as patient and friendly as possible with her. After we received the coffee we sat down for a while. A weird movie about a reindeer in court before Santa was on. Then we watched Sponge Bob. It was the episode where that Krusty Krab has a garage sale of junk. Then he finds out the soda drinking hat he sold to Sponge Bob is worth a fortune. So he tries to trade Sponge Bob a Foxy Grandpa baseball cap in exchange. And I think he said "Foxy Grandpa" to Sponge Bob. But I heard him say "Fuck" and karl heard it to. So we both laughed.

Then we went to Wendys because the food at Mcdonalds is too fatty for me. They have a Bigmac special right now. But there is way too much fat and way too many calories in that. I ordered the chicken nuggets at Wendys a small Chilli and a grilled chicken wrap. I had the Chilli for dinner. They had free coupons there for some new coffee line called Redhead Cafe, Not the catchiest name.
