Not too much is new. Summer is wrapping up. There is a classic car show here today, taking place in the downtown area. It isn’t too bad temperature wise around 90. I don’t think that I want to deal with the heat though,

And with the end of summer comes the end of garage sales. I sort of lost interest in them compared to how I felt last summer. I already have too much stuff and most peoples "treasures" aren’t items that I want. Nope I don’t want or need baby clothes or items that babies have pooped on or drooled on excessively. I have learned that "huge" garage sale usually means the opposite. I have no desire to buy V.C Andrews books, Danielle Steele or romance novels. I went to one sale a few weeks ago where someone was selling classic pop bottles. For $5 a piece.

That annoyed me so much I walked away without browsing the other items. And I went to one sale on Friday that boasted in the ad about having items for collectors. There were some plastic Beetle Juice pieces ( cute but no thanks) a classic car calender from 1992, um nope and other items already erased from my memory. On Saturday I went to my parents place to do laundry. The little area in the back of my apartment building where I used to sit and relax has been taken over with flowers and weeds.

And it gets distracting when I sit on the wooden bench meant for smokers that is by the back door. I like my neighbors but then I am obliged to make small talk with whoever goes in & out of the building. The park by my place is nice. It gets busy there as well though, which is to be expected being a park. My parents have a huge back yard and a nice deck. It is nice to just sit there in the sun, with flowers around me and silence washing over me and a cloudless blue sky above me. There were a few garage sales in their area. I bought a bunch of dvds a lux de ville purse and birch bark art. Most of the items were by donation. The proceeds were going to a fund for Breast cancer.

I Paid a buck for the purse and a pink breast cancer foundation pen and $10.50 for 7 DVDs. She had those priced at $2 but sold them to me for less. I was going to just find a pic of the purse online, but I couldn’t. The price for them seems to range from $40-$90 so not a bad deal for 50 cents.

p1130559 Here is a link for their website http://www.luxdeville.com/ The purse was in a box with other plain purses and bags. They also had baking and jam at the sale. I know it very likely wouldn’t be toxic, but I didn’t buy any jam. Primarily because I don’t know who made it. And I resisted from buying the baking partially for the same reason and also due to it being fattening. I had walked to the garage sales and continued to walk back to my parents place. I had stopped at Dollarama and bought a coffee and a sausage Mcmuffin from Mcdonalds. Close to my parents place I stopped at a garage sale where a very nice lady was charging way too much for dvds. No I don’t want to pay 5 bucks for a dvd unless it is something rare. She was charging $7 for the tv series ones which is also too much. Then I went to a final sale. I had my purse on my shoulder, the Lux De Ville purse full of dvds, the Dollarama bag plus the coffee. So I put down the coffee as I looked through dvds.

A lady comes along gets into my space puts her hand out and looks as though she is going to star thumbing through the dvds that I had already selected. There was also a little book under them so that was likely what she was going for. I said "Those are mine." and she said something like "I Know I’m just.." in a heavy accent. And was still in my space. I said "I have a coffee there and don’t want it to spill so I will move it so you can look." I probably sounded annoyed because she couldn’t ask me to move the coffee or wait 5 minutes for me to get out of there. Then she said "Sorry" and moved and I said "it’s alright." Whenever that happens I think about how for some people they probably come from a very populated country where it is the norm to be in everyone else’s way because you wouldn’t be able to function without doing that. Here is a pic of the dvds. Only a few of them are ones I will keep. The rest I will donate after viewing them. I watched "babysitters" Last night. It was mundane. About halfway through I realized I think that I have watched that movie before.

p1130558 I know someone will wonder what is that thing in the corner? That is my rebounder (mini trampoline.)

Oh and most people probably don’t know what birch bark biting art is. That is what the little art piece by my Lux De Ville purse (in the pic) is. Here is a video for anyone who wants to know more about it. I have seen someone in person do that art. That must get rough on the chompers, ouch.
