What’s really going on?

So yeah I found out I’m pregnet and I tell my boyfiend and he’s all excited about being a daddy. But then like two weeks later we break up. He tells me he wants to help me out in any way he can. Yeah I belive that the entire almost 3 months I’ve been pregnet he’s given me a total of 45 dollars. Yeah that really helps a single pregnet woman that has no job. Simply because I dropped everything and moved to Texas with him. Big mistake…we moved back to California. He says he wants to be a part of his childs life but he has this drinking problom. He gets drunk and gets all depressed and then he gets angry at himself for being depressed. So he starts getting violent, beating up on himself and stuff. He never once hit me but he did "accidently" hit his mom once. But I’m torn because since he lives with his mom and I want his mom to be able to see her grandchild because she’s never done anything of the sort. But I don’t want him getting drunk and depressed and then angry while my child is there. I have no idea what to do. I just hope he grows up and realizes that he needs to stop drinking and doing the stupid things he does because otherwise I will file for full custody. But I also feel bad because he is the father of the baby and I always say a child needs both a father and a mother.
