This year has been a crazy awesome ride! I have a couple of things to update about since I havent written in a bit. On December 7th I got a brand new niece! My sis Stevi had her baby girl Sophia Ryan Florez! She also got married earlier this year too so I am SO happy for her! A brand new family to spend 2011 with and I pray this year is full of blessings and joy for her and her whole family.
December 22 marked the "official" start of Jesus Junkie Inc!!!! Whats that you ask? A new ministry I am co-founder of! Shalonda, a fellow youth leader and friend, is the founder and she’s the one that God gave the vision to and she got the copyrights for it and all. But she asked me to be her co-founder soon as the copyrights came through which was December 22. She said I will be her right hand man and will have all the same responsibilities as she does. I was so blown away! I mean she talked to me about it before she started working on the copyrights but I thought she’d just have me be one of the leaders to help out. Not to be right up there with her. But she said that’s what God wanted so who am I to argue? Jesus Junkie Inc is a ministry that will basically deliver the message through the arts: song, dance, skits, poetry, art, photography, etc. We will be traveling as invitations start coming and as we start growing. We’ve actually been doing Jesus Junkie work before it became an official ministry with our own church’s youth group. Remember how I mentioned we’ve been traveling to do praise and worship at other churches? That was the beginning of it. The vision really started coming together when we went to Tallulah, Louisiana though. When our youth instantly connected with their youth, their youth said they wanted to be a part of ours so thats where the Jesus Junkie name came about. To merge Y.O.Y (our youth) with WeChange (their youth). So we’re already technically national, hehe. We will be holding auditions on Feb 4, 2011. Auditions will basically be just to give us an idea of where to use individuals for ministry and not as much about actual talent in singing, dance, and acting. Above all we are glorifying God and uplifting the people. I will post the link for the Jesus Junkie Inc facebook page. Christmas was great even though we really didn’t celebrate it. We haven’t officially celebrated the holiday in years. This year we each got one thing on black friday for the most part so we didnt exchange gifts on Christmas day. Dad got his gift in the mail about a week or so before Christmas. He was so surprised! lol We (my bro and I) got him a blu-ray dvd player. I got an iPod touch (my mom, dad, and I payed for it together) and Josh got money from all of us to get a passport made. Mom has yet to tell us what she wants. She’s difficult about gifts lol.
My cousin Malik got out of prison on the 29th! I’m so excited! I’ve missed him and I know his kiddos have too. I’m so glad he got out just in time to start a new year with his family and see what new beginnings come his way.
Oh and I was also asked to learn to help manage the church website and learn how to write grants for the new grant writing team for the church. Learning how to do both of those will be very valuable skills in the future. Especially if excel at both. Lord help me. So many new beginnings that its almost overwhelming but its just what I’ve been waiting for! God is so awesome to me and He amazes me everyday. Its been said over and over again in these last few months that 2011 will be a year of breakthrough for me as well as my family. I cant wait to see how high God is going elevate us and the awesome things He has in store for us. I am so excited for the new opportunities that have already come my way for 2011!
