Neurosis

We have a squirrel problem.

It started in January. The second I think. I heard a scratch, scratching, scratching from the wall in Avery’s room, which faces the back of the house. We have HUGE trees. A giant ass maple, and then shrubs, tall and short line the side of the property- put that together with a neighbourhood of big trees, also squirrel condos.

So, we got a ultrasonic noise maker that worked for the IL’s, and a plan to get up in the attic to see if we could see any evidence of them messing around.

B went up, saw nothing, patched a possible hole, and cut down a bunch of limbs.

No squirrels for a couple of days. Then… scratch, scratch scratch. Fuck.

So, I had noticed that Roxy being outside scared the squirrels away. So, the dog got to hang out for an hour or two from before sunset until after. And no squirrels.

Until I starting getting lax, and they came back. That NOISE. Those stupid squirrels MESS WITH ME. I can’t sleep, I worry about them chewing wires, starting my house on fire. Shit. EVERYTHING. Of course none of those things are likely to happen, but PLEASE… I did google it and i am neurotic like my mother.

So, Roxy has been on guard again for the last two weeks, I have heard then 2-3 times, and it’s too much. I nag B to set the trap we borrowed from a friend to relocate them, but he hasn’t and likely won’t. It needs to be anchored, and that hasn’t happened.

Avery is pretty good about the whole thing, sleeps through it.. but you know (neurotic) I wonder if that’s why she wakes up so damn early every morning.

Neurosis part 2?

Cooper had a sleepover at my MILs last night. With his cousin. They baby D more then Cooper and it’s tough as Cooper’s mom to watch. D gets to sleep with grandma, D gets special treats, doesn’t have to share.. etc.. etc.. I asked her to make sure Cooper was in bed by 7, hoping he would go to sleep by 8 @ the latest.. They were still outside PLAYING IN THE SNOW at 7. Are you effing kidding me? I love her, she’s an awesome grandma, but he is a MONSTER without sleep, and who got to deal with him today? Oh yeah, us.

We survived. I missed him a WHOLE bunch. We picked him up nice and early though. Today and yesterday were NOT good food days.. lol. We went to kitchener yesterday after dropping avery off with my brother/sil for the afternoon. We had The Keg for supper, OMG soo much $$ but so much deliciousness. Bliss. We bought nothing for ourselves, but stuff for the kids– that’s how it goes right.

Back to the grind tomorrow. and now to my couch with my kindle, water and iphone. lol..
