well well – yes, i was keen. keen was what i was. i don’t mind the boring textures, or even then jaggy framerate – what i didn’t like was when i put the control sensitivity to maximum, i just couldn’t turn fast enough for my liking – as if the character’s body is so retarded he can only sort of shuffle around, rather than snap his weapon to place and fire – i’ve been far too spoilt be timesplitters and halo. yes – i’m a big fan of saying that we shouldn’t compare these games against each-other, because they each have very different objectives – however i’m not comparing gameplay elements or stories or options at all. simple controls. they just weren’t up to it.

as for the mapmaker well – it has potential, but is ultimately very limited. its lack of flexibility dooms maps to be boring – the textures really damage it here, because there isn’t much you can do to make the environments unique. sure, it’s outdoors, removing the need for the tile attitude that timesplitters has, but what you can do with the terrain after you’ve shaped it is far too limited. a few simple trees, useless objects – it just doesn’t make for interesting mapmaking. too much open featureless land.

that’s enough – i only hired it – it just wasn’t worth playing – nor was co-op – at that point the framerate became unforgivable. with the next-gen just around the cornenr, this late in the game (pun intended), bad framerates are simply unacceptable.

that’s all – how brief was that! i’m getting better… though on the xbox live forums, i’m getting worse.

It’s sad the amount of underdeveloped games coming out these days. I’m sorely dissapointed with the current gaming market as you may well already know. Too much overhyped games of little content and half-baked titles. The turning sensetivity is way too slow when you showed me. Considering this is a fast paced shooter it’s somewhat baffling.
