I don’t remember how exactly I stumbled across this one, probably looking at one of the many online lists of social dramas. The two ep per character format is great, I really love what’s been made of the first three characters, with Asahina in eps 5 and 6 my favourite so far. There was a good sense of truch in her character and the decisions she was making that I strongly identify with. I’m liking that the three stories so far haven’t had fairy-tale endings. They’ve had optimistic endings, yes, but not perfect ones, but then perfection is merely a matter of perception. To me the endings were perfect, as the characters’ lives move away from cliched ideals, and more towards the truth of life, and how beautiful it can be. The pace is slow and steady and the atmosphere peaceful. The one gripe I have is yet again a totally inappropriate opening title that simply doesn’t reflect the presentation of the series. That aside, it’s been wonderful so far.
