New things

Once upon a time I was not a good shopper. About the only thing I ever got a buzz out of was gear. Gear meaning new computers, mp3 players and headphones, new keyboards, audio equipment etc., and new CDs. While none of that has changed much, I’ve now taken a liking to buying clothes. I don’t buy clothes very often, but when I do, I think I’m beginning to cultivate a little glow of my own.

Enter Carhartt jeans.
I love jeans. If I could wear jeans every day to work, I would love it. Usually I keep a running cycle of two pairs of jeans and won’t buy another pair until one of the existing ones is shredded. Last weekend I stepped out and bought a third pair, and believe me, it’s strange new territory for me to have three pairs of jeans. This simply doesn’t happen.
So I’m finally wearing my Carhartts today for casual day, and I must say that they are several shades of awesome. I’m a straight-leg loose-fit kind of guy, and these jeans are just right, a perfect addition to my two pairs of Levi’s.

Other new things include a bit of a rush on CDs. Spitz’ new album arrived the other day along with Tokyo Jihen‘s 2006 album Adult. I haven’t had a full listen through of Spitz’ new offering but the first half of the album is pretty good. Tokyo Jihen (or Tokyo Incidents) are simply awesome. Underworld have launched their new album in the US called Oblivion with bells which doesn’t release here until next month. I pre-ordered it from Amazon however, and it arrived today. I shall give it a decent listen-through on my lunch break.
Two other CDs have arrived from overseas; Garotta Moderna and Break ‘n Bossa – chapter 3, both of Schema records fame. Break ‘n Bossa 3 has a bit more quirk in it than the first two compilations, but still has a few good tracks in there, and I’m yet to hear the closing bracket.

New jeans, new music, I’m quite content at the moment. The only thing that could make my day better would be to knock off work early and chill out with some good people and a bottle of red.
