how strange that all of a sudden i’m springing right back into western films.  there has been a slight pause in my anime supply, though now i have azumanga dioh.

shrek 2 – funny.  and a big step ahead of the first one in respects to technical development.
harry potter (next one) – i enjoyed this a lot more than the other two.  seems more mature?  darker?  perhaps.  though they’re all still supposed to be 13, they just carry themselves in a more mature manner.  sets, props and lighting again was fantastic.  cg was mostly good – getting better.

considering i hardly enjoy pop film at all, i tend to go into theatres with a totally open mind.  hence i tend to thoroughly enjoy things that are mindless or shallow – simply because i accept the fact that that’s what they’re for.  pop film will never reach the heights of anime – but it isn’t supposed to.  it’s just enetertainment.

in my jacket pocket is an iRiver iHP-120 – 20GB mp3 player.  it is nice.  and better than the iPod – though that is only a matter of opinion.  both units are excellent in different ways – they really have two separate purposes, and both are valid.  the iRiver was just the one closest to my needs.
the remote kicks the iPods though – for starters it comes standard, and all operations on the unit are accessable via the remote – got a nifty LCD screen on.  (yes, the silly language is intentional).
and i’ve only filled 8 GB of it.
this purchase was inspired by two things – firstly the absolutely horrid week i had at work last week, and secondly my growing collection of anime soundtracks.  i simply can’t listen to them all in time with my flash player, so alas – it’s service has ended.

aviva amplitude – now that i have optical in on the iHP, (and out for that matter) – i’m going to record the metro remix of everyone says hi by david bowie.  nice.

i agree about the third harry potter- it enjoyed the dark elements in that one…although i usually like dark characters and elements in movies anyway…
