crazy penis live (again)

Friday 30th of September, Hi-Fi Bar.

i really should get the Crazy Penis gig down in the diary seeing as it was last friday night.

while the support act was horrendous to use a kind expression, Crazy Penis rocked the house. they didn’t perform as well as last time in January, but Danielle Moore was there and she still gave it her all despite her head-cold, bouncing around the stage like the vibrant energetic woman she is. though i did think the set from January was better, i think the guys had a lot more fun this time, they were more sure of themselves and more charismatic. Laura, Chibi-R and i were also a whole lot closer to the stage than we were last time, so it was great to see Danielle and the guys up close. they played most of the great tracks from ‘a night on earth’, being ‘can’t get down’, ‘lady t’, the instrumental ‘cruising’, ‘kicks’, the instrumental ‘bumcop’ which they opened with and ‘sun-science’ which they closed with, fitting as it’s the climax of the new album. other great performances were the instrumental ’13th movement’ which always rocks, ‘you started something’ and a sprinkling of other tracks from their previous albums. of-course they just had to play the crowd-pleasers ‘beautiful people’ and ‘there’s a better place’ (oh my god it’s the willy wonka song! … geh).

tracks we really missed were ‘mind wide open’ which Chibi-R was hangin out for, ‘in deep’ and ‘a night on earth’ from the new album, the disco classic ‘magical progression’ which they did play last time at least, and one of my all-time favourite tracks ‘keep on’, a slower, sweeter song.

the crowd this time wasn’t as good as last time, there were a good deal many more posers and stupid bogans who don’t dance or don’t know how and really shouldn’t try, but all-in-all it was a brilliant gig. for a band like Crazy Penis, i really don’t care about the crowd, and i danced my ass off as always. it’s always great to see a band get up for over an hour and give it their best, and i wasn’t going to do any less for them.

I am still on a high from that, it’s amazing. I looove Danielle Moore, she is just so much fun, so charismatic. Aside from the drunken derelicts we were forced to stand next to, and the painful supporting band, it was the best night I’ve had in ages…probably since Jan 7, when we first saw them! @_@

came across your diary randomly. crazy penis rock socks. i’m from sydney and i saw them at parklife on the long weekend & YU that same night. good times. eve was framed (nsi)
