cdjapan and amazon
my order from amazon has shipped – i continue to be thoroughly impressed by their service.
this was how it happened with cdjapan:
order processed monday afternoon.
order shipped monday afternoon.
arrived in australia tuesday night.
arrived at australian air express’ depot 6:30 wednesday morning for delivery.
that’s three days. i am amazed.
why on earth would i buy anything locally when prices are rediculously high for things even slightly rare, and items i want are not available?
support local industry – no chance.
the cd in question from japan was the heart of air – blue flow ep from haibane renmei. the amazon order currently in transit to me contains chobits 1 and 2, character album, the mullholand dr soundtrack and hybrid – morning sci-fi.
when all else around me begins to crumble, music and anime always endure, lift and sustain.

In 2008 and the first half of 2009, Amazon would become the worst shipper of all the online stores I purchase from. Their deliveries went from four business days to over forty, sparking a few freight-charge refunds and I think from memory, one re-send. Towards the end of 2009 though they clawed their way back to reasonable service with most orders arriving in under eight days.
Nevertheless, their packages still remain some of the worst packed and wrapped, often becoming crushed with little to no protection for the goods inside. This is the polar opposite of purchasing from CDJapan/Neowing where CDs are placed inside bubble-wrap envelopes which are then wrapped in Japanese craft-paper and then boxed and sealed with metal-alloy grade cardboard and tape.
what would we do without music? what a boring world.. But we’d at least be rid of those damn jingles that get stuck in your head at 2 in the morning…
