bandwidth | hard-drives | Technic

For the first time in a very long time I hit my bandwidth limit for the month.
Mind you, it’s good to give my little PC a rest once in a while, gives me a chance to clean things up a bit, or at least think about it – afterall, it’s the thought that counts.

Two of my friends who have multiple SATA drives have had failures, one of them having two drives fail on him. I only run one single SATA operating drive (with a standard ATA as the system drive), but everything important lives on the removables. So far I haven’t had any problems with them at all, and at this point I’m appreciating the idea of having slightly more precious data isolated and powered-down while not in use. I think the problem is these guys use their archive drives as operating drives too, so programs are constantly writing and fragmenting the disk. Who knows though, I don’t know what each of their problems were, suffice to say that Lewis sent one of his drives back to the manufacturers and they recovered all of his data free of charge under warranty and replaced a read-head which had apparently collided with a platter. Nice one on their behalf.

Last night while Laura was getting her OD reading in for the day, I finally got to build my Blue Technic 4×4. It was a relatively easy build, but still a whole lot of fun. The front suspension and steering assembly is prettty awesome, as is the rear-axle tilt configuration. It still would have been nice to have the rear-axle sprung, but it’s still a good model nevertheless.
