Technology and our dumbing down

Technology has come a long way over the years. Just think, computers that once took up a big room have advanced to the point that they have became faster and more powerful but yet only take up mere inches in space. Mobile phones went from the bulky bag and brick style to the size of a business card with features out the ying yang.

We have came a long way when it comes to advances in technology. Take some surgical procedures for example. Having a gall bladder removed used to mean having a fairly good size incision made and somewhat painful with days spent in the hospital recovering but now it can be done with 1 or possibly 2 small incisions about an inch in size with minimal discomfort and a hospital stay of only a day or so. Cameras are now used to help diagnose conditions without the need for a surgery.

Yes we have come a long way and a lot of good has came from it and technology makes our lives much easier for the most part but it has come at a horrific and devastating cost. Long gone are the days of talking to an actual person when calling for customer service or a goverment office as automation has taken over. That is bad enough but the true cost of tech is the dumbing down of the populace. The more that technology advances the dumber we become.

This dumbing down can be seen each and every day. I am quite sure everyone has seen it but without knowing and as bad as I hate to say this but I think us guys are the ones most affected but there are women that pays the price also. This devastation and horror and the dumbing down are brought on by something so simple and innocent and that is the whole "HANDS FREE" tech.

How does hands free make us dumber you may ask, well it is simple. Although we have automated aka hands free doors, in which they open for us without our assistance and that’s all well and good but the hands free urinals and toilets are misleading.

We see the signs in restrooms everywhere saying hands free but those signs lie. They are not completely hands free. It is still a very much so  hands on project and that doesn’t look like it will change any time in the foreseeable future. Just think of all those poor people that have walked out of restrooms everywhere with their pants or shorts wet simply because they saw a sign that said hands free toilet/urinal and they ended up pissing themselves. I won’t mention the other thing that might have happened.

Technology needs to catch up with signage or signage needs to slow down and wait on tech to catch up but in either case, something needs to happen to help prevent the further advance in the dumbing down of the public. It needs to happen before signs start going up in bathrooms everywhere saying "Hands Free Toilet Tissue". Ohhhhh the horror. Make it stop.

RYN “internet rambos” totally made me laugh, thanks! A hands free toilet? What if it flushes while you’re mid-stream?!
