Unwanted Dawn Visitor
It was a Friday early morning, particularly before dawn-prayer, the green city was mired in eternal serenity and dreamy peace. At a sudden, I heard that peculiar monstrous roar breaking the silence and kicking my dreams away. Cautiously I left my bed, heading to the street. I opened the gate to see what was going on. It was that ugly municipality water truck in a shabby green color with two fading yellow strips like a Native Indian warrior. It was strewing its poisonous smokes allover the place, launching the worst sound a human ear can hear. I forgot to tell you that there is a green garden opposite my house and certainly it needs watering and irrigation dose everyday. When I moved here two years ago, I though how lucky I was finding such green space near my nest, but days proved that I was totally wrong and naïve.
This gloomy truck and its Arrogant driver had made my mornings a living hell. The driver intentionally or stupidly used to keep the engine working while unloading his shipment and exchange pleasant chats and gossips with the guard of the garden if not having breakfast with him. All This happens while the engine was cracking and crashing.
Coughing and sobbing I approached him politely and asked him to turn-off the engine because it launches smoke and ugly noise over all the district. Bluntly he stared at me from head to toe.. then said And said (I won’t turn off the engine .. if I did the truck won’t start again.. there is some problem in the cables..) I tried to explain to him that the health and comfort of the district’s resident is more important than the truck .. He shrugged and said (That is not my problem .. talk to the municipality to change this truck or to stop watering the garden…)
I tried to explain to him the hazard of the diesel smokes and high noises he was doing, I talked about pollution and elder people who might inhale his smoke every morning while they were sleeping .. but no avail. Furiously he used all (I don’ts) he knew, (I don’t care..!) (I don’t know..!) (I done want ..!).. puffing his cigarette fumes on my face.. He was only four feet and I was sure I can fold him And sit on his dirty skinny back till police come.. but as a decent citizen and a law observer I took the other way. I dialed (999) ..within minutes the patrol arrived and found us standing face to face .. teeth gnashing muscles are in due tense. My claim was clear and obvious..
When he saw the patrol he immediately changed his tone, blaming the municipality not providing him a good vehicle and started explaining his suffering with such carp piece of iron for the last ten years blah blah blah.. When the officer blamed him for annoying the whole district in this critical time of the day he finally admitted his mistake .. In return I waived all my claims and only asked for a written commitment from him to stop the engine while unloading his shipment ….. and he did.
Am I wrong ??
