Vacation July 2009

Hello all,

My vacation actually started last Friday.  But this is the first morning that I haven’t done anything.

Friday, my friend Louise and I went to Madison for the day.  When I got up that morning, it was storming really bad and we had planned to go to the Henry Vilas Zoo.  She called me and said:  "let’s not go."  I disagreed and won.  We left at 10:30am.  It takes exactly one hour from my doorstep to get to Madison.  I didn’t know that people really freak out when you drive on 8 lanes of traffic.  It doesn’t faze me, but I found out that it bothers others.  She was my backseat driver.  But I didn’t listen to her, simply because I know my way around Madison and don’t need a GPS or a map.

Spent 3 hrs. at the zoo.  I got some great pics, but I don’t know how to download them to OD.  One of the pics is of the prairie dogs.  It looks like they are hugging each other.  It was hot in Madison, and most of the animals were in the shade.

We left the zoo at 3pm.  Louise loves to shop.  I HATE shopping unless I have a reason to go shopping.  (yes ladies, I know this sounds crazy.  I grew up learning the value of money and unless I really need it, I don’t buy it.)  So, I said:  "let’s go down Odana Rd..  This road has lots of little strip malls and several big stores and besides, it goes directly to West Towne Mall.

These are the stores we went too.  Trust me, Louise LOVES to spend money.
Scrapebook Plus, Tuesday Morning, Market Square, Hilldale Mall, Burlington Coat Factory, Jo-Ann Fabrics (yes, I did purchase here.  This was the store I wanted to go in.) West Towne Mall and Barnes and Nobel.  (I did purchase a CD)

Of all these places, I purchased:  2 scrapbook sheets and a sticker sheet, 5 yds. of decorator fabric at $3. per yd, normally sells for $34 per yd. 1 CD and a pair of Scrub Pants.
But my minivan was full of stuff that Louise had purchased.  Then before we left town she wanted to go to the movies.  So we went to see Public Enemies.  Not my kind of movie.  Man movies are expensive in Madison.  Just to get in was $10.  and then concessions were another $10.  I can do the movie and concessions for $10 in Platteville.

Got home at 10:30pm.  I was tired on Saturday, but had a bunch of things to do for church.  Sunday, church, went but left at the final prayer.  Didn’t feel too good.  Came home a vegetated.
Monday, yard work, laundry, normal stuff.  Tuesday, took a friend to Dubuque who doesn’t drive so he could get this weekly stuff.  Wednesday, practiced music at church and recorded for Sunday.  Went to the movies and saw Harry Potter.  I’m not into Harry Potter, but I had already seen the other movies that were playing.  Today is payday.  Yeah.  I’m coloring my hair.  I needed too.  My one grandson said:  "Nana, you’re getting old.  Your hair is turning white."  Eeewww!!!  I know I’m getting old.  He’s going into the 4th grade and his middle brother gets to go to Little Lambs on Fridays because he’s potty trained at 2.  And Noah just turned 8 months.  Yup, Nana is old.

Tomorrow is my last day of vacation.  No plans as of yet.  Seven days goes by fast.  It has been lots of fun, even though I spent it here at home.

Enjoy.

Sounds like you are a bargain hunter. Movies are one of my main outings, too, and church! Haha.

Such a busy vacation so far. I hope you find some time to relax and enjoy. My little grandson says that my husband is old but I’m not. He doesn’t realize that I color my hair yet…lol! Happy Thursday!!

Sometimes it is nice to have vacation at home and “veg”. I might slip away to a motel getaway weekend just to rela and cool off in the pool.

I don’t like to shop unless I have a purpose. Plus, you spend money that you don’t have when you have little. RYN: I am going to try a sticker chart with Ben in the bathroom. He loves stickers, it would appeal to him.

That sounds like a really busy vacation to me! I would need a vacation from the vacation. RYN: Except for a couple days I took allergy medication, I don’t take any pills. I also almost never drink caffeine. I really have no idea what was causing my weird dreams, but I don’t think it was anything I was ingesting.
