Prayers Needed
Hi friends,
I know it’s been several weeks since I’ve been on OD. This time of year is always busy. Back to school for Isaac, who is now in 4th grade; Birthdays in September, October, November and December; Mom and her new life in the nursing home; Dairy Days, Homecomings, and Labor Day parades; Church, Work and too many other things too mention.
I’m asking for prayer for my mom. Even if it’s just a simple prayer for an elderly lady you don’t know. Got a call from the nursing home this morning at 2:45 am. Mom was in distress and couldn’t breathe. (she has COPD=Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and CHF=Congestive Heart Failure) Her oxygen levels went from 90% to 61% which is critical. The nursing staff was sending her to ER. I met the ambulance at the ER at 3am this morning. She was blue around the mouth and I could hear without a stethoscope that her breath sounds were minimal. She was full of fluid. I could hear the wheezing and the crackles without the stethoscope too. Dr. comes in. First, he’s not her doc. Second, he knows nothing of her condition. He looks at her and says: "how are you feeling?" She says: "I can’t breathe." He listens to her lung fields and calls xray to come for a chest xray. The lab tech comes and draws labs. And the nurse comes in and gives her an Albuterol inhaler treatment. That’s all they did, and sent her back to the nursing home!!
The doc said: "she doesn’t have pneumonia." I looked at him and said: "well what is it then." He said: "fluid." At that point I wanted to say: MORON!!! Don’t charge me for this ER visit, pay me your wages instead!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Got her back to the nursing home and her Physician’s Assistant came to see her. Thank you Heidi. The nursing staff, the PA and I all agree she has pneumonia and she is now in Renal Failure. Basically her kidneys are shutting down due to all the steroid use for so many years.
Today, I’m tired. I couldn’t go back to sleep at 6am, so I stayed awake. I’ve put mom on the prayer chain at church and posted on Facebook for those of you who follow me. Mom is 87 and doesn’t want invasive procedures done on her at this stage of her life. She is ready to meet the Lord, when He calls her home. Yes, I will be sad when she’s gone, but she’s lived a great life and my daughter and I have wonderful memories.
Thank you for all the great people that are on OD. You bless me in ways you don’t even know. I’d love to meet all of you someday. Take care. Blessings. Carol
