Conversations with a 2 yr. old

Yesterday, I went to my daughter’s before work.

I chatted with Isaac, who started 4th grade today at St. Rose School.  He said he didn’t want to go to school, but after talking with my daughter this morning, he was up at 6:30am and ready for school and waiting for everyone else to get up and have breakfast with him.

I was outside yesterday, playing with Caleb.  He’s 2 and will be 3 on Sept. 15th.  He was throwing a frisbee.  Everytime he threw the frisbee he’d yell:  sutherman!!  (superman)  The 3rd time he threw it, it landed in the neighbors yard, next to the pitbull.  Caleb looks at me and says:  "Nana, it’s by the mean dog!"  I looked at Caleb and said:  "what should we do?"  He said:  "you go get it Nana."  I said:  "ok Caleb.  But you’ve gotta pray for Nana, cause I’m afraid of the mean dog."  The whole time I walked around the garage and went into the neighbors yard by the mean dog, Caleb was saying:  "God, watch Nana, God, watch Nana."
I got back into the yard and said:  "Caleb, let’s play something else, ok."  So we were chasing butterflies.  I went and sat down on the picnic table and a butterfly landed on my scrub top.  Caleb was able to sit next to me and look at the butterfly.  Here is our conversation about the butterfly.

Caleb, look a butterfly is on Nana.  A bottafly?  Yes, a butterfly.  Nana, why does the bottafly only have 2 hairs on his head?  Caleb, those are his antennas.  Antennas?  (don’t try and explain this to a 2 yr. old) Where are his eyes Nana?  Right here Caleb.  They’re little nana.  Can he see?  Yes.  Nana, are bottaflys mean.  No Caleb, butterflys are nice.  Do they bite?  No Caleb, they don’t bite.  He’s pretty nana.  Yes he is Caleb.  Then the butterfly flew away.
Where’d he go nana?  Probably back to his house Caleb.  His mom was probably looking for him, just like your momma looks for you when you’re playing.  But nana, he wasn’t playing, he was letting us look at him.  You’re right.  But don’t you think his mom was wondering where he was?  Yup, just like momma when she’s looking for Isaac when he’s at the school.  (the school is next door to their house)

I love 2 yr. olds!!

Noah is learning how to walk.  He can pull himself up and take steps by holding on to stuff.  The first step he took yesterday outside was in a pile of dog poop.  Clean up on isle 3!!

Things are going well with mom at the nursing home.  She just doesn’t remember all the times everyone stops in to see her.  She swore she hasn’t seen me for several weeks.  I’m like I was here the other day when we all had pizza.  Oh, yeah!!  I forgot.  That’s ok.  I forget stuff too.  It’s old age ya know.

Just got a call.  Someone wants me to meet them at Badger Bros. Coffee house.  I gotta get dressed.  I’m still in my PJ’s.  I don’t get dressed unless I have too on my days off from work.
I’ll be back in an hour or two.

Just got home from Badger Bros.  I had a Pina Colada Smoothie.  I wanted to try the Caramel Cinnamon Cider, but they don’t have the cider yet.  That sounded sooooo refreshing.  You can tell it’s becoming fall here in southwest Wisconsin.  Trees are starting to turn colors, the weeds that cause hay fever are in full bloom, and my dog is growing her fur.

I love fall!!!!!!!!!!  Especially drives to see fall leaves.  It’s soooo beautiful.  For those of you who don’t have 4 seasons in your area, you don’t know what you’re missing.  It’s soooo neat to see trees of all shades of colors.  I think I have some pictures saved in my albums.  Let me see if I can download them here.
