Chilly-Willy Saturday

Hi everyone,

It’s a chilly-willy saturday here in southwest Wisconsin.  Brrrrr……  Long sleeve shirt weather and warm jackets.  I have my mittens out too!

Yeah, you can all say I’m crazy.  I don’t care.  I’d rather be warm.

How is everyone doing these days?  I’ve been busy as usual.

Recap on mom’s health:
Not so good.  She has to see a Cardio-vascular specialist in Madison in 2 weeks.  Her labs are screwed up because of all the steroids she’s been on for her COPD-CHF.  Steriods keep her lungs clear so she can breathe.  But steriods damage your kidneys.  Now she’s in renal failure.

Update on grandkids:
Isaac started 4th grade.  They have 13 boys and 3 girls in their class.  Aren’t those girls lucky???
Caleb also started school yesterday.  Every Friday he gets to go to Little Lambs.  Pre-K for 3 yr. olds.  My daughter said he did great!!!  He’s the only 3 yr. old I know who has organizational skills.  All his hot wheel cars are in order by color.  His monster trucks are in order by size.  And he can count to 10 in English and Spanish.  Way to go, Caleb!!!
Noah.  Well, Noah will be 1 on Nov. 10th.  His latest feat is to steal the Nyla bone away from their black Lab and eat it.  Yuck.  He can say:  ma-ma, da-da, bah (for bottle), bye, and he’s trying to walk.  He can get around stuff really well.
The other day when I was over to visit, Caleb head butted Noah for a toy and Noah pulled Caleb’s hair.  Brothers!!!
My daughter Joy and son-in-law Casey are fine.  The whole family had the H1N1 already.  They got it while they were in Omaha for a food show.

As for me:
I’m fine.  Cold, but fine.  I need to do some winterization here in my mobile home, but this afternoon I need to be with mom/family.
It’s been busy at work with funerals.  Yes, we had 2 Sisters killed in an auto accident in Ft. Myers, FL.  A drunk driver turned left in front of them in a Tahoe and they T-boned the Tahoe in a Prius.  One was killed instantly and the other died in route to Lee Memorial Hosp.  We had another Sister pass away in Montana, and we have 2 on Hospice at the Villa across the street from the Motherhouse.  I’ve spent lots of hours this week sitting with Sisters that knew the deceased.  Sometimes it pays to be a great listener.  I told my boss that I had stayed.  And she said:  "you did the right thing."

One of my friends called me this morning.  He’s an OTR trucker.  He’s back in this area for a few days and asked if I’d like to take in a movie tonight.  So I said yes.  We are going to see:  "Whip It".  It’s about Roller Derby.  You know, I remember when roller derby was on Sunday afternoons.  We’d watch that stuff.  I’m surprised my parents didn’t get after us for watching violence.

Tomorrow evening starts choir practice at church for our Christmas Cantata.  I can’t wait.  This year instead of using a pre-recorded CD, the choir director asked me to make a CD for it instead.  I feel honored.  Thanks Danni.  I’ve been practicing for days and have lots of cool sounds set for the final record.  This way, I can sing and don’t have to worry about playing and singing and watching the director, etc..  One of the songs is very "soulful."  In fact, I said to the director:  "we need to get our groove on" for that little number.
I’m hoping that the sound team will record the whole cantata.  Then those of you who’d like to hear it (Regs)  I’ll get you a copy.

Brrrr………………my feet are freezing.  When, my feet are cold, then I’m cold all over.  Where’s the dog?  Long fur and a warm body dog, helps to keep cold feet warm.

Did any of you see my post on Facebook about my lost hammer?  Oh good grief.  The saga:
I was at Menards and picked up some molding for my front door.  I went to get the hammer to tack it on, but the hammer was no where to be found.  So I used a large rock to hammer the nails in with.  (yeah, I know, cavewoman style)  The next day I went looking for my missing hammer and posted it on Facebook to see if anyone from church had borrowed my hammer.  (didn’t really think they had, but I couldn’t find it)  Got lots of funny replies and one song:  "If I had a Hammer."  Thanks Danni.  Still no hammer.  So……..I went to Kmart to get my prescription filled and bought a hammer while I was there.  Left the store, headed to work.  Was sitting in the van before my time to punch in and was looking down on the floorboard and I spotted something shiny.  Guess what???  The missing hammer.  Why?  Or how did it get under the seat???  More funny answers from friends on Facebook.  Thank you all.  I remember now how it got there.  When my daughter and I were cleaning mom’s apartment, I took the hammer over so I could pull the nails from the walls.  I must have left the hammer under the seat and forgot to take it out when I took all the other stuff out.
Good grief, I must have Alzheimer’s Disease.  "Old Folks Disease"  Can’t remember anything.  Mom has this sign:  Of all the things I’ve lost in life, I miss my mind the most.
This is sure me these days.

Everyone, stay well, warm, happy and content with your life.  Help others because in the end you will reap a great reward for helping the less fortunate than yourself.  Be a giver.  It’s hard for me to be the receiver.  I’d rather give until I had nothing.

Blessings to all
Carol
