retail therapy

i was feeling really fed up today. the presentation that i did on friday was a bit traumatising, especially since as soon as we’d finished we had to go into the lecture room next door and watch a video of us all giving our presentations on the giant cinema style screen! whimper. it was so evil.

everyone was being swotty and revising for their exams (i have an exam tomorrow (well, technically today now) and i haven’t started revising for it yet, ha ha ha ho ho ho) so i went to town on my own like a billy no mates. but i only had a couple of hours to get around the shops so it’s probably better that i went on my own. i trawled round for ages and was starting to get a bit disheartened when i went into gap (yeah, i know all the clothes are made by ten year old children in shacks but there was a ‘sale’ sign on the window).

first thing that cheered me up – the brown halterneck that i saw a couple of weeks ago but stopped myself from buying it because it was too pricey (that’s the yorkshire blood in me, y’see) had been reduced by £10 to £15. fab. and it looked nice on too so sorry mum, but i’ve gone over my budget yet again this week.

i tried topshop, miss selfridge, oasis, pilot (god, everyone in there must have at least six years history of anorexia), river island, next, wallis (getting desperate now) and there was nothing. i wanted to get a denim miniskirt and last time i came to town you couldn’t get away from them, but the only ones i found were some ones tucked away in miss selfridge, which were very nice, but only came in sizes 8 (too small) and 14 (too big). damn.

then i remembered a place on the corner called northern rock. it’s a sporty labelly kind of shop, and it has a big waterfall in the middle of the shop, which is weird but was gorgeous considering it was a sweltering day. i went in there with superfit lucy before but now i felt i earned the right to go in there without sneers as i’ve been going to the gym for the last few weeks and starting to look a bit more toned. i found a lovely camel skirt in there for £20 and tried the size 12 on in there and it was like a tent. so second happy thing of the day.. i bought a size 10 skirt. i know to most that seems like nothing, but i’ve been trying to get back into my size 10’s for ages and ages now.

i also went to a place called the ‘juice place.’ it rocked. the blitz up smoothies right in front of you so they can see what’s in them. although it started tasting a bit manky at the end, but i perservered because i haven’t consumed fruit for something like three months.

i need to write more about the trip to europe, because we’ve progressed so much! now all the flights and all the accomodation has been booked, so we’re all sorted and ready to go now. whoopee! i need to provide serious linkage and whatnot.

Aw, I just get back and you’re preparing for Europe. Enjoy it, I’m jealous.

I like that you printed your dress size. Most girls are so prudish about admitting such things.
