radio sock

gaz, i reckon you’re going to be jealous when you read this.

i’m sat in lucy’s room at the moment listening to the ever dreary and advert laden virgin 1215. it’s alright, but there’s two many adverts about o2 and bisto gravy. lucy wants to go and see the counting crows in a live lounge session for about 15 people and if me, lucy and claire all ring up she’s got a better chance of getting through. yesterday her boyfriend got through onto line seven but they chose line nine, so close, but no cigar.

thirty minutes later

hey hey! what an amusing half an hour that has been! we were all poised with our phones ready to pounce when claire suddenly decided to call anyway, and to our suprise got through to the dj. she started a tirade about how lucy adored the counting crows, was obsessed with them and how meeting them would change her and her boyfriend’s life. so the dj (ben jones?) said to claire ‘what’s your number?’ and she told him and he said he’d ring her back. feh, fat chance we thought, we’ll just all ring and try and get through the normal way. i tried about 10 or 11 times but it was always engaged, same with lucy. so cue our suprise when ten minutes later we got a phone call from the dj asking her name and where she was from, then saying that he was putting lucy on line 12. ‘ooh!’ we thought. but then immediately tried to rationalise it, thinking that loads of people will have rung up and tried to blag their way on.

a couple of songs later and ‘so now we’re coming to the counting crows competition, the phone lines have been completely jam packed for this one.. it’s been a big hit for the listeners. so… we’re going to line…. 12.’

at that point i jumped for the ‘off’ button on lucy’s radio in order to stop her getting that dreadful feedback. but i did turn it on for a second to hear what the dj was saying.

i thought lucy was very good. if you did manage to catch her on radio it sounded nothing like her. and you would have heard me whooping in the background. hee.

yay!

I guess you won the competition. Which one is Claire? The one from Malta or the posh one who went to Uppingham (along with Busted? ;-))

Virgin, you lucky thing. I used to love that radio station but can’t get it here. :'(
