Teenager on the Horizon

Lisa will be 13 in April, and all she wants for her birthday is a sleepover with her friends….because for the first time in a long time, she has friendS…as in, more than one.  It’s what she has her heart set on, and I am more than willing to make it happen.  The issue is, is that none of her friends are allowed to do overnights outside of their homes with friends.  We are talking 3-4 separate families.  What gives?  Is this the norm now??  Girls between the ages of 11 and 15 thrive on those things, and I am boggled.  She’s crushed.

I understand wanting to protect their kids, but this is taking it to an extreme! I wouldn’t stop Tommy from having a sleepover if I knew the family. Problem up until this last yr is all the kids he wanted to sleepover with treated him like crap. I would speak to the parents 1:1 and see if they would make an exception.
