Just Me and the Dog

Katie is off on Friday, which means I have to work that day. So, I get today off instead. Since we have to pay for daycare whether Lily is there or not, I decided to send her.

This apartment is in desperate need of de-junking and we have found that anything other than quick cleaning is impossible while the baby is awake. This gives us about 2 hours a day (if we manage to stay up until 10 pm) to clean, relax a little and try to do something that we enjoy. That makes it pretty hard to clean really thoroughly. So…… I decided that I would take today to get some things done.

The first thing I did was shamelessly steal an idea from my OD fave, NIN. I took Sprocket on a Sniffabout. To make a long story short, he gets to decide where to go and what to sniff. He wasn’t super interested in sniffing, but he was SUPER happy to be going on a really long walk. Don’t get me wrong, we walk our dog. He gets a minimum of 3 walks a day, but they’re usually kind of short. A lap around the apartment complex and then some time in the grass. Today, Sprocket wasn’t so sure what was going on at first. When Iet him take the left he always wants to take instead of making him go right, he figured it out. He started prancing and hopping and sprinting. He was super excited. We went up the big grass hill and headed in the direction that he takes when Duckie takes him for his "good" walk in the afternoons. Then Sprocket wanted to turn left again. So we did. And we walked and walked and walked and walked and walked and this dog just NEVER got tired. I don’t know how long we were out, but we must have walked two miles. I’ll have to check it on google maps. When we got home, he drank a bunch of water and passed out on my bed. I think he enjoyed himself.

Of course, now I have to fight the temptation to just sit on my butt watching Supernatural or playing Skyrim (or both!). I’ve got the living room/dining room mostly done. I just need to vacuum. When I do a big clean, I like to wait on vacuuming until I have all the rooms done so I can just go through the entire apartment instead of a stop and go type of thing.

But, I need a break! A piece of pizza and a pop and then I swear I’ll get back to work. My bedroom is next on my agenda. Then a short straightening up of the nursery (the only room in the house that rarely gets messy because all we do in there is change diapers right now). I can’t decide if I’ll start on what used to be the computer room and has turned into a catch all junk room today or if I’ll save that for when Duckie is home to help me. I’ll probably do at least a little bit since it can be so hard to get anything done when Lily wants to play. She’s too cute to resist, you know.

And, when I’m done, maybe I’ll still have time to play a little Skyrim.

I used to skip class in college and stay home to play Oblivion when that was out. It used to make AJ so mad, lol because he had to go to work but I could stay home all day playing it. ryn- It was unbearably hot. And humid. And just all around terrible. Just going to the grocery store had us all sweating buckets and poor logan was always a sweaty mess in his car seat. And we have AC in the car, it was just that hot. ugh.

I have two pugs, if it’s not too hot, no walk is long enough, lol. But seriously… this entry depresses me (looks around) ugh… I need to clean….

Ryn – Hehe so true! Though I rarely keep them in the closet, though if I have a big enough closet one day (not in a bedroom) I do like the idea of posing two of them as if they’re having a conversation, so that when I have company over and they go in the closet for something… 🙂 good times!

I am avoiding the cleaning we’ve put off for weeks by browsing OD. Bleh. But you’ve inspired me- when I’m done with this note I’ll get up and start scrubbing. Man. I’ve been putting some solid time into Skyrim, too. I’m terrible at giant games like that because I want to do EVERYTHING.

Yay sniffabout!! They can get a little involved, but I think that is a wonderful treat for a puppers every now and then.

Ryn: Yes I’m on pintrest..but not really a lot. Mostly offbeat bride tribe forums right now. Also yes very pretty place! Also for Skyrim…sometimes I’ll feel guilty and do some of the main quest line, but mostly I’ve spend 100+ hours working my way from left to right across the map. I’ve recently made it to the mage’s college, so I’m doing that stuff now. It’s a great way to do stuff, methinks.

^^ I’m laughing at Agitarix’s note, because I play the exact same way. I have to discover all the locations on the map before I can start doing anything in earnest.

ryn- I’ve stuffed a pocket diaper with 2 microfiber inserts and 2 hemp inserts (which made the diaper ridiculously puffy) and it still leaked :-/

RYN: Oh man, I am actually at the place for the Mage’s Staff right now. Staff of the Magi? Can’t remember. I don’t know why, but the mechanical ruins are places I hate. Maybe it’s the falmer. RYN: Level 17 is nothing to sneeze at! You’ll get there, slowly but surely. Most of my time has been put in an hour or so on weeknights before bed. It’s been quite the journey..

Are you sure you don’t need them? Logan’s about 20lbs now so if you have some that would fit him/you aren’t going to use I’d be happy to take them off your hands. I cannot deal with changing the sheets and the kid every night much longer. he typically gets up at 5:30 for a bottle and then goes back to sleep until 7:30-8 and at 5:30 I am just not that coordinated… or ya know, awake. haha

I think I did. I’ll check my purse for the reciept when L wakes up (my purse is in the room he’s sleeping int) I sent it last Tuesday but it’s going parcel post this time so it does usually take a week or more to get there. Hopefully you’ll get it today!

I have looked everywhere and I can’t find that receipt. I’m going to call my mom and see if I left it in her car because I was with her the day I sent it… and check Chloe’s usual hiding places for papers & receipts she finds.

oh good I’m glad you got it! I was starting to get worried when you said you hadn’t gotten it yet… I counted up the days and was like ‘uhoh’. haha
