MOVING!!
Hey Everyone,
Just wanted to drop in and give you all a small update. First I want to say though that I am sorry I haven’t been around much. This move has been keeping me rather busy as has work. I have tried to pop in once in a while to note but I know that I have not hit everyone who has written lately. I hope to do all that soon. So thank you for being patient with me. The move in itself has been going well. We spreaded the packing over the past 2 weeks, packing what we didn’t need first and what we needed up to the last day last. My parents came inon Friday, the night before, and stayed with us at the old apartment, it was my father’s first time to the apartment. We then took them out to dinner at Lalo’s an Authentic Mexican resturant, my mother didn’t care for it, but I am think my father enjoyed it. After dinner we headed back to the apartment and talked for a little while and then headed to bed for a busy day. Yesterday we all got up around 8 or so and started to get last minute things done, we couldn’t get the moving truck till 10 am. My father and I fixed the blinds in all the rooms, my cats did a good job chewing the strings so they didn’t work, but they are good now. My father and I then went to get the truck. We get tehre and find out they actually rented out the truck we were to get and we ended up having to get their rotational truck. My father and took the truck back and we all started to get boxes taken down to be loaded. Collette, Nic and Mike then showed up to help us move. It was great to have the extra bodies. However, the 2nd elevator was broken so we couldn’t lock the other one for our use with the move, which is what they would normally do. So it ened up taking us a little under 4 hours to get all of our stuff packed and ready to go. I then led my father on a different route since the truck couldn’t go on Lake Shore Dr. and my husband led my mother on the faster route. It took my father and I about 2 hours to get out to our new place, while my mother and husband took just around and hour. By the time my father and I got here Nic, Collette and Mike were here after taking a side trip to drop Nic’s car off at a shop he uses in Chicago. We then preceded to get everything out of the trucks, that took another few hours, but it eventually was all done. My father and I then took the truck to it’s drop off location and came back with pizza and pop for people who helped us move. Collette, Nic and Mike then headed back early, while my parents stayed to help us get the apartment into better shape to move around in. They ended up staying the night since it was already getting late by the time we had gotten a few things done. We took a short trip to Walmart to get a shower liner so we could all get showers before bed. We then came back finished a few projects, took showers, talked and headed to bed to get up early for church. Today we woke up around 8:30 to head to church just 2 blocks away. The church seems like it will be a nice place to go, but we might check out a few others nearby to see if anything is a better fit, though I think the one we went to today will end up being the best. My parents then headed out shortly after church. My hubby and I continued doing some work around the apartment and then decided to head out to go to Target, Subway, Dominick’s and Jewel. We needed groceries for dinner and stuff to eat over the next few weeks. We then came back and at least got the kitchen finished, the living room picked up, things at least int he general location of where they will end up, but we still have some work to do. Our cable, internet and phone will be set up on Tues, so right now I am stealing wireless from someone nearby. Now we are relaxing and I am about to make dinner, Potato Soup. I hope that all is well with everyone and I hope to be back with the notes, pics, entries as soon as all the smoke clears from the move. Have a great day!!
I completly understand how moving can keep a person busy. No need to worry about being cut from my Favs or anywhere else 🙂
