Barrier

still standing strong
unable to break it down
programmed into my very soul
dont let them in
dont let them see
how much i hide
hurry look the other way
dont let them place their eyes
upon mine too exposed
i lay my bricks down
not able to stop
building something that
only ends up cutting me off
too aware it all could just go away
vanish without a second look
am i cagged or safe
no you may not come in
you’ll just have to wait for me to open the door
and step out into the real world
