where are you?*
I’m starting to think we’ll never find our house.
Not without giving up on everything we want. Which isn’t even unreasonable.
3 min bedrooms, 1.5 – 2 min bathrooms, 2 car garage, more than 1300 sq ft (this is really being way reasonable because our charlotte house was over 1600 sq ft and we felt cramped there – we’re hoping the fact that basements exist here helps with that), and at least CLOSE to 1/4 acre (we aren’t overly picky about that either, but if it’s like .12 or .17 you basically touch your neighbors).
That’s really IT. And of course we have our price range, but we’re told it’s reasonable.
Before you go laughing at me for feeling deflated already – no, we haven’t put any offers in anywhere, we haven’t even gone to see anything. That’s the problem – NOTHING has been worth seeing yet!!! The biggest issue seems to be location. We have a set area of schools we approve of, and a reasonable distance from our family – but none of the areas have what we want. It seems like we either have to compromise on what we want, or where we have it. And both of those things, suck ass.
We’ve been looking since before we moved here. Just, casually searching sites. But now we are on an automated system where ANYTHING that hits the market that fits our criteria is emailed to us, and we’ve had nothing but disappointment. A lot of people keep saying, ooh wait til we get into spring and summer, that’s when the houses hit the market. Usually, yes. But our sort-of realtor (she’s not official, she just set us up on the automated system and I know her through Buffalo Mommies) says that’s not true this year. Everyone is rushing to meet the tax deadline (may I add, we do NOT qualify for it) so they are hunting NOW and people are listing NOW and a lot of the action will be over before summer. GAY.
So what do we do? What suck do we pick?
Live really far away from our friends and family even though we just moved back to be CLOSE to them?
Give up one of our requirements, like the garage or sq footage or acreage and be totally cramped (# of bedrooms cannot go down)?
Raise our price range because we probably can technically afford it by the bank’s standards but then be totally maxed out?
Or just, watch like 5 new house hit the market every day that just miss this or that thing and go insane without a house forever? I know it’s only March, but I’m starting to freak out about HAVING our house and BEING SETTLED in it before TTC #2 and that is coming in August or September and so I’m already spazzing about it. I don’t want to have to push that timeline back. 🙁
I just want my house. 🙁
edit;
UGHHH. I found it. I seriously found it – THEEE house. The one that gets me all kinds of crazy excited when I see it, and I can see myself getting comfy in it wearing PJs and making coffee and crafting and hosting parties and enjoying the yard and loving the location and the PRICE. But it’s missing 2 things that are very high on Matt’s "must have" list (neither of which matter to me if the house has things to make up the difference and it DOES!), so I just know he’s going to take a huge smelly crap on my parade. I’m still making him see it this weekend because MAYBE, just MAYBE if I can get him to love it despite it missing those 2 things, I can convince him otherwise. It’s going to take a looooooooot of praying.
dont compromise. We’re now in house #2 and we compromised..and now we are looking to sell because its just not worth paying on a house that doesn’t have what you want or is not where you want it to be. I’d go up in price before compromising on what you want.

Good luck. My husband and I just got our offer accepted on our first home. 🙂
