onto the next one

while this video is extremely high on the freak factor, i’m kind of sucked in by the beats & the appropriate
theme for the new year. so. enjoy some "inspirational" music, if you didn’t already see this at midnight.

2010, what up.

it just hit me that…this is the start of my 4th decade.
technically, i’ve only completed 2.5, but….i was alive for more than half of the 80s, awkwardly stumbled my way through the 90’s, thrived pretty well in the 00’s, and here come the 10’s. craziness. i know this is probably irrational being 25 and all, but lately i’ve been absolutely terrified of getting old. the thought of my body parts slowly failing, sagging and greying makes me shudder. and the idea that from here on out you continuously lose energy and functionality, sucks. and then there’s the idea of getting so old that leaving luke (and other future children) behind on this planet is imminent. ugh. i’m just….freaked out.

the fact is….i still have right now.
and i need to learn to appreciate that better. i need to stop living my days in terms of, "only 2 hours til matt gets home and gives me a long enough break to shower", or "only 5 days til such and such party to look forward to". i like to think i’m a lot better at living in the now than i used to be (especially since moving back to buffalo), but i still tend to do a lot of looking back & ahead and i want to minimize that a bit.

so, with that theme in mind….. my 2010 goals.

family goals
-find a house
-TTC #2 after august
-look up the holy days of obligation and attend them

home/organizational goals
-set a weekly grocery shopping day (discuss with matt)
-set a weekly laundry day (probably monday)
-get birthdays organized for friends & family and send cards to everyone this year

nutrition/health goals
-meal plan (i did this EVERY WEEK, but since moving home i’ve done it once! my parents always have their own plans and it makes it SO HARD to plan ahead. that week i meal planned we stuck to the plan only one of the nights!)
-meal plan separately for luke
-get organizational tool for menus (dry erase or cork board?)
-look up recipes, at least semi-healthy ones, and try one every week or every-other at the min.
-get a new doctor & ob/gyn and get check ups at both
-try to find a way to flatten belly

luke goals
-"lesson plan" for luke when age-appropriate (just little activities 3 days a week or so)
-complete luke’s time capsule

hobby goals
-read another 30 books in 2010
-catch up on scrapbooking & use it as ammo for scrapaholic studio
-try to make SS successful (though not sure how i define that yet)
-collect family ornaments
-work on crocheting, try some new projects
-keep at card making – try to MAKE all cards sent out this year

that’s it, FOR NOW….because while it doesn’t seem like a lot, the above takes a lot of organization and while i’m really good at getting stuff like that going, it’s hard to stick to all of it. i don’t want to overwhelm myself with too much, but i do hope to expand on this once i get some of these things to be habitual. soo, to be continued! (so much for posting the complete list)

ugh. matt’s been sick and his doctor said he wouldn’t be contagious anymore by today. so, we washed the sheets and such to de-contaminate. my mom’s washer is gay so he wants to take the comforter to his mom’s to wash. he broke out one of our old ones for the next few nights…and, o.m.g. his mom washed it for us when we moved and seriously…..she must have thrown 10 old lady scented dryer sheets in with it. i’m choking on the smell, i don’t know how i’m supposed to sleep with this.

i went on a scrapbook supply rampage this week. i ended up spending about $100, but only $75 or so was out of my pocket, and it includes the cost of a cricut cartridge! so, when you hear everything i got you’ll be impressed 🙂

one of the days this week mal came with me & luke to joann’s, and after returning a couple things and using a visa card from christmas i only spent $5. i bought…

DCWV 12×12 All About Boys stack
3 Value Pack Papers from The Paper Company (In Rainy Day, Seaside, and Black & White)
3 little spools of ribbon (one snowmen, one snowflakes, one airplanes)
3D Foam Squares by Scrapbook Adhesives
A box of photo splits
A Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pad in Tea Dye
& 3 Skeins of Yarn

as i scrapbooked this week (i’ve done 16 pages so far) i ran out of page protectors. my dad bought me the baby album i’m using for luke for christmas, and they only take a certain kind of refills. i tried to cheese out and use generics and the holes don’t match up, bastards!! anyway, i looked at all the stores i could think of this week and no one had them….so i had to order them online. luckily enough, they were on sale for slightly over $2 a pack…not bad. i decided to get some other things on my wish list since it was so cheap, but….it got out of hand.

i found a free shipping coupon for orders over $50 on joann.com. sooo i was buying little things to add up to that much. as i was doing this i realized, if i’m willing to spend this much i should be buying a cricut cartridge! soooo then i went on the hunt for a cheap cartridge, long story later….i ended up ordering doodlecharms for $31 (and that’s including shipping!!). i didn’t get it from joann’s so i was still stuck with my order over there since i still needed my page protectors, and let me tell you…..i HATE paying for shipping. i know that someone has to pay the truck drivers but it feels like such a waste when i could earn free shipping and get STUFF for my money (an

d i know logically i’d spend more than i intended to get the free shipping but it’s all stuff on my wish list so i’d end up getting it eventually anyway). i did one last search for a different coupon code and i unearthed one for free shipping off $35 and deemed this to be more reasonable. sooo, i placed a $38 order at joann’s (free shipping. so there.)

and after that tirade, here’s what i ended up with….

Doodlecharms Cricut Cartridge
3 Page Protector Refills
3 Bottles of Stickles (in Silver Ice, Faded Jeans & Peeled Paint)
2 (more) Value Pack Papers from The Paper Company (in Baby Boy & Primary)
DCWV 12×12 Indian Summer Stack
A Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pad in Faded Jeans
2 Cuttlebug Embossing Folders (in swiss dots & d’vine swirl)

something to note. iiiiii……may or may not, own a cuttlebug (hint: i don’t). but here’s the skinny. even on ebay those suckers are going for $5+ (a few $4 ones scattered here and there), but $2.99 is a pretty good sale. might as well start the collection, ya? i have every intention of getting one ASAP (i was deciding between the cuttlebug or a cartridge this week). i have my eye on a place that sells them fairly cheaply but they’ve been out of stock so as soon as they get them in, it’s mine! and, in the mean time…..i’ve heard you can use the embossing folders with a rolling pin! sweeet.

so next on my stalking list…

Joann 12×12 Peppermint Forest Stack (i’m waiting for it to drop down to 9.99)
The Cuttlebug
Stamping Solutions Cricut Cartridge
Cuttin’ Up Cricut Cartridge

I obviously take part in a vicious cycle where buying supplies gears me up to scrap, and scrapping inspires an even stronger desire to buy supplies. I always feel like if i don’t have it all, i’ll regret the way something looks later on.

Anywayyyy. Have I talked enough today? Goodness! I wonder if that hints at a busy year ahead.
